Any game better on C64 than Amiga?

In my opinion there are a few:

The Last Ninja 2
A masterpiece on the C64 with really moody music. The Amiga version was maybe technical better in graphics, but in my opinion had a more cartoonish feel, that made me stop playing it after 5 minutes. But it could be, I had higher expectations to the Amiga, and that's why I didn't bother.

Armalyte
A masterpiece on the C64 with sprite multiplexers etc. The Amiga version got technically better graphics, but I think the C64 version was less "cartoonish" and much more fun to play, and still is today. A remake for PC is made with great respect to the original C64 version, worth a look.

Defender of the Crown
The original Amiga version was released before finished a year before do to financial problems or something like that, the C64 version got more functions that makes it more playable, my personal opinion. There is a 1994 CD32 version Defender of the Crown II, published by Commodore just before the bankruptcy, worth a look, for those who haven't. It got AGA graphics, speech recordings and specially composed audio track music.

Anyone else has thoughts?

I don't know about Ghouls 'n Ghosts. I thought the Amiga version had superb title screen and level one music.

If somebody has to mention a better C-64 port, it should be OutRun. It was #1 n the [ Show youtube player ].

OutRun is bad on the C64 as welll. A pluss that a cassette tape with original music came with it to play in background. I think most ports was a little disapointing. The original Arcade game got great hardware, 2x68k etc. The MXC version was most true to the original in feel, the only one that kept the split road, but extremly slow and few or almost no colors. I think the best game of this kind on Amiga is the Lotus Esprite series, and maybe the best one on C64 is Pitstop II.

Commando. That C64 versions music is simply great.

Amiga version have slightly better sounds, music, graphics etc. but they just aint as good as C64s Commando.

But I do have wondered what if i had seen it back then, had it then been superior version or not? For thing is, I notice difference now and then. Back then, AGA version was simply must and so so much better looking than the plain ECS/OCS versions of games. But today i look at AGA and OCS/ECS versions of same games, and I dont see that much difference, and for example in "Detroit"s case, i actually think the OCS/ECS version looks better than AGA version even. That was not so when they originally came out.

Ghosts'N'Goblins, Uridium, Ikari Warriors, Bionic Commando, Creatures, Navy Seals, Last Ninja series

What makes them memorable and better on the C64?
Answer: The stonking SID music of course!

Trouble with conversions of games to other formats is standards of quality.
If the original coding team is not responsible, then you are guaranteed a lazy conversion or port of the game.

There are many examples of poor arcade conversions on the Amiga (and C64 for that matter). The Amiga's architecture allows for faithful arcade quality games to be produced. See Rainbow Islands, Ruff'N'Tumble, Super Frog, Hybris, Turrican, F/A-18 Interceptor...etc as classic examples of what the Amiga can really do

I preferred Turrican 1+2 on C64 as the SEU stages were better. The long loading (I only have cassette) and lack of music on most levels were the downside though.

Commando: I've used to play the arcade version on my Amiga in the mid 90s, using MAME. It was not to requiring, I think 030 was enough, maybe a rtg card is a must then, dont remember.

I'd have to agree that Creatures and Robocop were better on the C64. They felt better to play.

The simpler the game, the more likely that it could be superior on C64. Audio-wise C64 has aged infinitely better than Amiga... but that's just a piece of the puzzle.

- Last Ninja 2 and 3: Better gameplay and weirdly more appealing, visually. Much better music and 3 has an incredibly stylish intro on 64.

- Run the Gauntlet: Plays better and sounds better.

- Boulder dash: Its home is C64

- R-Type: Plays the same, sounds better.

- Barbarian: Plays the same, has Richard Joseph soundtrack

Defender of the Crown is an original Amiga game and has better graphics on the Amiga, but because it was released before finished, the Amiga version misses important features that was left out, that makes the game boring and kind of pointless to play, to win is just to easy and feels meaningless. On the C64, all the features are in place and the game feels challenging and fun.

LOL! That's for sure! Even Amiga conversions of the original Amiga games aren't faithful.

The Arcadia arcade machines had A500's in them for their hardware. Check out the differences between the Arcadia and Amiga conversion of Ninja Mission. I think Roadswars also had differences, it's been a long time since I've played it though. The Arcadia versions are available in WHDload for a direct comparison.

Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Offroad Racing - it was good fun in 3 player on both platforms, but we liked the feel of the C64 version better.
