Fs-uae powersave / performance?

No matter what I do I keep getting the CPU Scaling Governor in powersave - am I missing something obvious to manually put into performance mode?

Thanks,
Karyn

Hi, the warning appears because in powersave mode, the performance on Linux has been seen to be somewhat erratic. You can see this with the Ctrl+F10 overlay.

To get the CPU into performance mode, you can:
- Run
echo performance | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor
in a terminal.
- Install the gamemode tool/daemon by Feral Interactive - FS-UAE can use this to automatically enable performance and revert to powersave on quit
- Use some other tool, for example "CPUFreq Manager".

You can also disable the warning (
governor_warning = 0
in Settings -> Advanced in FS-UAE Launcher) if you are not too concerned about getting stable frame rates, or if you feel it works fine on your system in powersave mode.

Thanks so much for the detailed reply - yeah, I was wondering if this was being triggered outside of FS-UAE - my main concern was that I wasn't getting the 'most' out of fs-uae.

I did as you suggested and all seems to be working well now! Thanks so much for the assist!

Now if we could only get MIDI in fs-uae

There is MIDI support in a pull request, created by @cnvogelg https://github.com/FrodeSolheim/fs-uae/pull/209

Plan to test and include this in the upcoming development series

Great! Anything I can do to help, count me in! Is MIDI support included with the current latest release of fs-uae? I'm not very familiar with git - how would I go about using this? I run ARCH Linux btw. Thanks.

Unless you are a developer, you need to wait until I've made a release with the MIDI support included It is probably still some weeks off...

Glad I found this thread. I've been trying to figure this out for a while. I looked in the GUI, config and didn't see anything relating to governor. But this message always came up. I kept wondering why it always complained about the governor but didn't turn it off by default or give me an obvious option to in the GUI!
