Amiga games successfully installed on Harddisk

It is a simple list in where you know that there are many game that could be installed on HD, but many ot them need sometimes special kickstart and memory request. I used emulation to easy install, but in general i installed games on standard config:
  • Amiga 500 HD (kickstart 1.3/2.04; 68000, 512k chip RAM + 512k Slow Fast; chipset OCS)
  • Amiga 600 HD (Kickstart 2.x; 68000, 1 MB Chip RAM + 512k Slow Fast; chipset ECS)
  • A1200 (kickstart 3.x, 68EC020, 24 bit addressing, 2 MB Chip RAM and/or Fast RAM; chipset AGA).
  • When the game is installed with 3rd party installer, i put in the list. Generally these games require 3 or 4 MB of Fast RAM.

Some games as reported by manual has different requirement from floppy disk. If a game from floppy run with kickstart 1.3, from HD require kickst 2.x. Some Games require more than 512k Chip RAM (when a game require 1 MB Chip RAM, usually is reported on the Manual). If you have DF1: you could have problem with 512k+512k because you could not have more enough chip RAM to run game.

As many OCS/ECS games require more that 1 MB of memory in presence of DF1: or because they have some extra compared to floppy disk, in many games i set different config.

Special config:
  • Amiga 500 HD (kickstart 1.3; 68000; 1 MB Chip RAM + 512k Slow Fast; chipset OCS)
  • Amiga 600 HD (kickstart 2.x; 68000, 1 MB Chip RAM + 1 MB Fast RAM; chipset ECS)

Some other OCS games that have 3rd party installer and require Workbench 3.0 i supposed to have un Amiga 500 with 3.0 roms and 1 or 2 MB Chip RAM expansion and so:
  • Amiga 500 HD (kickstart 3.0; 68000; 1 or 2 MB Chip RAM; chipset OCS)

That is an impressive bit of work. Is this using the installers that came with the game?

Some Amiga users have access to a HDD, but not enough memory / CPU grunt under the hood to run WHDload. Thus, they may refer to the above list before attempting to install this or that game on the HDD, and e.q. post in case something is broken with the original installation routines.

Youre so funny

But seriously, there is no description of any kind so i was , well; confused
(he made an edit and added infos later)

@SquawkBox

There is no mention of this and no Specs given. (the OG post was edited and he did add specs)
Besides, most of those "third party" installers need extra memory anyway.

Believe me, i have a hole collection of those from back in the day.
Got them from TRSI & Friends

Aladdin AGA "third party HD" for example needs 3MB extra Fast-Mem.

So, i am still confused about this "list", but anyway.
Have fun guys. Love y´all

Yours Torti

however this is a collection of games that i installed or i was able to install. Some other games i never able to do it. Impossible make assign, continuosly request of floppy disk. It is a simple list.
Of course some game i put if there is special request. If i write "workbench 3.x" it is a third party installer that require 3 or 4 MB of Fast RAM.
however after that i will try to put more specific things

Such a list makes sense, go ahead with it. You stopped in the meantime with the letter D or is this just because of my web browser?

What if you (or anyone) installed those games in WinUAE, and simply copied the corresponding files and folders by hand onto his or her Amiga HDD (plus libs, entries in startup sequence if needed) ? I mean, that's the beauty of the Amiga ecosystem, right ? It doesn't rely on .DLL's and such.

I support this. Ther are games that perform “better” when started from a normal hdinstall instead of whdload. Eye of the beholder for example, Hired Guns, UFO Enemy unknown and so on, runs just fine from wb without whdload.
There may of course be issues with 040/060 machines for various reasons.
I mainly use whdload for games that were made with custom trackloaders and old OCS/ECS games that weren’t compatible with Aga-machines

s2325(remember him) did a bit of a list of games that work from assign
https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php...637#post505637

but there's different types of Installs

HOL gives us quite a-lot of info about what is HD installable and/or HD notes etc
https://hol.abime.net/hol_search.php...C&limitstart=0
1592 games.

plus there's various other installs but WHDload has a install for pretty much any game you could want to install so it's hard to know what this list is and it's purpose.

Sure, but I was replying to Torti about those few games that could run fine from HD, but would have higher system requirement for using the internal install routines from real Amiga with modest specs.

@Retro1234
this list show how many games i able to install following Hall of light "HD list". What games are easy installable (i found some games not reported by Hall of Light as HD installable) and what games could be installed but require Workbench 3.x, but run also on Amiga 500 with 3.0 roms and 1 MB of Chip RAM (third installer script are not AGA, but simply require WB3 and 3 or 4 Fast RAM).

In the end i fun with this list and could be another extra info on what already exist

My A600 has very few WHDload installs most of them were alternative installs or JST because it only had 2mb chip and that's just the way it stayed, plus I like the cracktros

My original A1200 had quite a few CD32 games just copied over or using fake cd.device things.

Now CD32Load means WHDload games can be run on lower spec on A600,A1200 and CD32.

The Crimewatch installs weren't great they never made use of more than 1mb chip so you had to have so fast ram.

Back in the day, I would write scripts for as many games as I could make work with assigns to install games on HDD, including creating icons and launch scripts if necessary. One of my many lists of projects is to go through my old collection, identify those games, and offer them up for TOSEC.
