WTB - Amiga 4000 Floppy Button - 3D Print?

Hi Guys.

Well i lost my Amiga 4000 eject button in August '16 and its unlikely i'll find it now. The floppy works, it's a waste to buy a new floppy and buttonless is awkward to use.

I wonder if someone
a> has a non working A4000 floppy and willing to part with the button
b> has a 3D printer and could make one, seems like a easy project.

a third option would be, could an Amiga 500 floppy button be used or is the drive brand different?

Anyways, if you think you can help, I'm happy to purchase and pay for the postage no matter where in the world it is, and i'll start supplying photos of the unit so we know we are working with the correct unit.

Thank you.

A500 button won't work, but the one from a PC version of the drive (Chinon FZ357, FB357) will work.

After a hunt around, seems this drive is more elusive that i thought. Maybe originally available back in the 286/386 era and not very modern? So very few on ebay and HUGE amounts of money. WIll hit up some collector friends to seek one out in their boxes.

Otherwise, can you see another solution here? No other models match? I even considered just glueing another brands to the metal casing part of the button, you wouldn't be able to tell but it is not neat and not reversible, so not a fan.

I lost my button and glued a Compaq button onto the metal prong. Didn't match, but did its job.

Or just replace the drive with a common PC drive unless you need the HD capability.

I bought this Epoxy Putty this week to repair a crack in my bath. About £5.

Waiting until tomorrow to try it but I did a test on a wine bottle. Rock solid. Seems like good stuff. Maybe you can mold a floppy button?

Not yet, I've been ill and cannot motivate myself to try it. Gaffa tape will do for now :-)
I think this stuff could be used to make a floppy button but I'm not sure how you would create a mold. You can use water to shape it and it can be sanded when set.
