Best of the Best: Championship Karate

Heya guys,

Does anyone have a cracked / unmodified Best of the Best: Championship Karate (probably just Disk B)?

All the TOSEC ones I've tried have the boxer's names / stats etc. changed

Can't use the .IPFs and they have protection i.e. select the country that a boxer comes from / his ages before being allowed to start a match.

Yeah, basically with all the TOSEC cracks someone (or the cracker) has played with most of the boxers so their stats are 90%+ and their money winnings very high. Also the names have been changed (see 1st attached screenshot).

With the .IPF of course all the boxers stats / money winnings / names are default (see 2nd attached screenshot).

I can't use the .IPF version (as I do with Panza Kick Boxing) as there is protection in the form of questions after selecting "Match".

Also noticed in the "Options" there is "Back to initial boxer characteristics". I select this for each of the modified boxers in the crack and all is good; until reboot. It doesn't seem to write these changes back to disk (and it's not write enabled).

Would be cool to have a clean crack of the .IPFs that doesn't have the above modifications but of course skips the protection questions

I am pretty sure the game only saves data from the fighters after you win a fight. I don't know if it saves all fighters or just the one who won the fight.

I know that because we were really pissed with our crack when the game would freeze only when we won a fight...... just to then figure out it wasn't a problem with the crack, we had to leave the disk write-enabled, hehe.

I've put a copy of disk2 in the zone, I had a quick look and the stats seemed normal, try it and see how you get on. If you need disk 1 (it's another copy of the interpol crack) let me know.

Thank you kindly my friend; I'll grab them from The Zone! If you don't mind posting Disk 1 anyway that would be cool

Today I actually saw musashi9 online so pointed him to this thread. He has created clean .ADFs from the .IPFs and skipped the "protection" when selecting "Match" completely

I haven't posted these into The Zone! as yet as I suggested he add the standard Flashtro cracktro first.

As for Panza, what's wrong with the Endless Piracy crack? All the stats look normal to me?

I didn't have access to this previously and the thread was going nowhere so that's why I asked mushasi9 to work his magic

There was a reason why all the cracks are somehow flawed but forgot the exact reasons. I did test all / configure this game back in 2006 or something

Anyway, your comment prompted me to test all TOSEC cracks again. Virtually all were modified & French...

You are correct, the Endless Piracy crack doesn't have modified stats and is English. Unfortunately though it suffers from the screen being clipped.

I've attached screenshots of the .IPF and the EP crack so you can see what I mean. Moving vertical position in WinUAE doesn't help; it's definitely clipped

Hmm you're right..I never included BoB in GB Amiga because all the ones I had at the time had problems but I didn't spot the clipping in the EP Panza Crack.

As far as I know it's the best one available, but I'll see if if I can dig an alternative up.

The plot thickens...

Flashtro / mushasi9 crack; when flicking through the boxers I noticed that there was one called Phil and also Boxer A's stats didn't look right.

Loaded up the .IPFs and same thing as above. This mean Disk B .IPF is possibly modified

Anyway; I loaded up the Flashtro / mushasi9 crack and went into options. Reset all boxers back to default and then saved.

In the Zone! now

Comparing this "reset" Disk B .ADF to the Disk B .IPF does indeed confirm that it's modified...

As for the IPF I suspect IFW will say that's the way it was mastered but yes it totally looks like it's been modified..
