Greetings from Cologne

Hi there,
my name is Willi Baecker and i am a founding member of some C64 and Amiga Groups back in the good old days. (FCG / TLC /RADWAR).
After the end of my C64 time, I was also a founding member of 'Factor 5' and created some games together with the team which was an amazing experience for all of us. Glory times back then.
Due to the high level of pirate-copying our games, we moved to the console market and leaved the amiga.

I am now re-entering the amiga community after 30 years to proove myself that assembler coding on the amiga is like riding a bycicle. You never forget the basics....

Greetings from cologne
Willi Baecker

Welcome, Willi.

I am curious if Activision reached out to the Factor 5 company when they were planning on releasing R-Type II?

Good point, but the truth is that originally we were 3 founding members
(Achim, Lutz and me -> All members of the Amiga Section of 'The Light Circle' who are responsible for the Copy Disks and the other Amiga demos...)
and the team name was 'Factor 3'.
When Holger and Stefan joined we changed the name to 'Factor 5' and never changed it again.
At this point we were working on our first game named 'Neutralizer' which later was renamed to Katakis/Denaris.

Hello Willi. It's an honor to interact with one of the founding members of Factor 5.

Do you recall if, after doing Super Turrican for the SNES, Mega Turrican for the Mega Drive and Turrican 3 for the Amiga, when you moved to the "next level of Turrican games", did you plan to do any further Turrican game for either the Mega Drive or the Amiga? Or did you just envisioned Super Turrican 2 for the SNES only and because of either technical and/or commercial reasons?

I always had the sensation, especially given that both Mega Turrican and Turrican 3 have endings hinting a possible continuity, that you probably intended both a Mega Turrican 2 (Mega Drive) and a Turrican 4 (Amiga) in the same or similar vein to the Super Turrican 2 game that appeared on the SNES (similarly to the fact that Super Turrican is a "cousin game" to Mega Turrican/Turrican 3), but market conditions on those platforms prevented that to ever happen.

Also from me: honoured to have you here and back to the Amiga community.
Hope we can expect some new output from you..

Out of curiosity, were you in any way involved with the Bonk's Adventure/B.C Kid conversion on Amiga? If yes, how did it happen? I assume Hudson Soft must've heard about Factor 5's legendary status

I'd be interested to know about the whole Katakis/R-Type situation where Activision threatened to sue, and somehow, sane minds realised Factor 5 would be the perfect fit to actually do the official R-Type conversion on Amiga.

That would be a great story

Welcome!
The Factor 5 games were on the Amiga were brilliant stuff

I still remember desperately tracking down Turrican and Turrican 2 for the Amiga in the shops only to not be able find them... Until they were released in compilations later (Power Up and M.A.X.), which I promptly bought so it all ended well
