PNG and JPG images are supported by iGame, you just need to rename the extension to .iff
In the screenshot I used a PNG image of Superfrog I noticed that if there is no screenshot of the game, the game icon is used as the screenshot if present. Last edited by AMIGASYSTEM; 23 January 2022 at 22:04. |

@amigasystem
Yeah, they are supported as long as you have the datatype installed. What I will change is to check for igame.jpg and igame.png, so that people do not need to rename the files to igame.iff. The icons are also supported as long as you have the datatype installed in your system, and there is no igame image in game folder. |

There's no need to add explicit support for PNG and JPEG images. The datatypes system is used to load the images, so as long as someone has the appropriate datatypes installed on their system the pictures will show up as long as the filename itself is "iGame.iff". It's only the filename that is important, not the image format. (For example, I have several PNGs, and at least one each of PCX and GIF for pics in my game collection.) Since file extensions aren't important on Amiga anyway, if having the .iff extension is the problem, just look for "iGame-screenshot" without any extension at all instead, then everyone's happy. What definitely needs to be fixed around the pictures is the broken preferences saving for custom picture size. It still ends up with giant random numbers instead of what the user puts into the size inputs. |

Yes, I think a screenshot name without extension is universal, this way you don't have to worry about using or knowing the image extension.
As mentioned also a big PNG Icon could replace the screenshot ! |

Maybe (and I know that it's been mentioned on the github page) the extension could be a number (e.g. igame.001) and IGame supports multiple screenshots with a slideshow feature or selectable screen shot type.

Ok I looked in my classes/data types drawer and I found that picture.data for some reason was called picture.data.old. I removed the old from the end and I can now at least see the generic igame screenshot when it initially loads. That disappears though as soon as I select a game from my list and becomes a tiny dot again.

@superman
Please check if that game has a screenshot with the name igame.iff under its folder. If it is there, are you able to open it with multiview? Also, please check if you have PNG, JPG and .info Datatypes installed in your system. |

This is a game I know for sure has an igame.iff file. If I double click on the file icon directly then it loads a full screen screenshot. I have the PNG data type installed but I don’t appear to have JPG only JFIF? I’ll try to find it and try again.

This sounds like a good chance that you don't have guigfx.library installed or you have its use turned off in iGame.

There may be incompatibilities between Descriptor and Datatypes, try these (manually copy the two files Descriptor and Datatypes).

With the new version of guigfx do I only install the library? There is no installer or guide included. I think all I did last time was just the guigfx.library but just wanted to ask more knowledgeable people.
Also there is a special 68060 version and an FPU version. Which version would be best for me as my Apollo card has both an FPU and 060 cpu, so I'm now confused. |

So does that mean everyone here having issues with iGameV2 changing the layout of the screen when a game does not have an image is using a graphics card?
So there is no point in me trying new guigfx library as suggested by @walkero Quote:
