Hello,

Everything is here, and the author is going to create cards to sell and it works on AMIGA, ST and PC!

Really as good as WHDLOAD software!

If your disk drive is dead, this is the solution!!!

It would be even better if it supports ipf SPS images. Couldn't see anything about this on the page.

Wow...

If this allowed for the support of IPF images that would be superb. Having direct USB access to what you are putting in your amiga is fantastic.

This DOES support (constant bitrate) IPF files.

The floppy disk server, which is a BIG part of this floppy emulator solution, can use any emulator DLL to convert from disk image format to a bitstream. This includes the SPS DLL for Amiga and Pasti DLL for Atari ST.

Having to have a Windows based PC within USB cable length of the Amiga/ST is a big drawback IMHO.

If it had a compact flash interface as well, for stand alone use, it would be great. But it would also be 10x more complicated and more expensive.

As for the USB thingy.. does it have to be plugged in to the PC while in use with the Amiga?

Yes, that would be a big pain. A compact flash interface would be a very good idea

The FPGA has to be a lot bigger as it has to do the MFM conversion and the Compact flash file access. There are some home project prototypes in development that do this.

You would not be able to support IPF images using a flash card, as SPS are keeping the IPF details a closed source project.

Of course. The floppy disk data is streamed from (and to?) the PC realtime in response to floppy disk access.

And how about that russian guy who managed to get a prototype stage of a drive replacement for his 500 using MMC's. He also used the display of a nokia phone for the track info/listing. was very interesting and the most important, standalone a full drive replacement.
Anyone got any news?

so, let's say you have an external disk drive, will you be able to use that to copy the disk to a adf image on the pc?

Currently it doesnt support writing.

If you wanted to copy disks to an adf image on the PC you just use DF0: and a PCMCIA Flash card. (Assuming you have an A1200/A600)

what's so great about it ... if you have any kind of disk image (adf,ipf...) and want to play it on the real thing, whdload is much efficient don't you agree ?(as whdload imager now works with disk images)

There's not much use for this really, at first I thought 'great' but when I realised it has to be connected to your PC at the same time... Not really much point.

WHDload is sooo damn good, I hate floppy disks with a passion, I'm very glad to see them phased out

I will say as KG. I hate disk and think things are better preserved when on a HD than on a disk

I can see your point why floppies are bad, but I like them. I like the noises they make- all the clicks and chugging

For me that's worth the small wait.

Some games are too much though... like SteelSky - that needs a HD
