i know the A2000 case is a bit boring for design freaks but when i look at mine its simplicity of construction might make it the cheapest to replicate
the chassis is 2 sheets off steal stamped or cut out and folded and the front face is moulded plasic which if i made a mould copy i would alter the front opening to standard 3.5 pc drive bays oh and a little lump of plastic for the power switch and a small cradle could be added inside for hard drives the front moulding would be the first part to draw up but once made can be made on mass by any moulding plant for pence as can the case sheets am shure it would be very easy to asemble from the parts in kit form of about 6 parts and a few screws and we can get the coulors corect the classic light coffe or what ever its called if only i had the time! Commodore US lists Amiga
Looking at some of the new "Commodore" PC clones on their site, I stumbled on this:
http://www.commodoreusa.net/os.html Are they helping promote the Amiga's new owner's or ???? Obviously they state who owns what and they are not claiming Amiga, but I thought it was cool they list it anyway. I love the updated retro logo they have on this page. Where is this from or is it just their clever idea. Anyone else noticed this page or am I just late to the party? And what of Comodo OS? Very interesting. |

I think they are not promoting anything related to AMiga
they build PCs at the style of the classic A1200 The commodore Phoenix series personally I like them http://www.commodoreusa.net/Commodor..._computer.html and they promote the use of Ubuntu |

you're late, very late for the party indeed ...
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=51615 and just to make it clear, they're not 'producing' anything, they're just re-labeling stuff so that they can sell it at premium prices to the un-aware ... |

Such a pity really that this is all Commodore has come to. I was glad to see at least the mention of Amiga OS and credit for Hyperion. sigh...I'm gonna go give my A1000 and C64 a hug now.

2 useless sd card slots, if I need them I can use a usb adapter serial port? see above put moar USB there instead Needs DVI-I or HDMI sata instead of ide please, a controller might be good enough for an additional e-sata port aswell. damn, I wish there were standards for such "keyboard-type pcs", like take the "Amigo"-chassis and put in any "system module" you like in the "Carrier Board". Then you could use some x86 compatible "system module" or an ARM or Mips based one, just as you please. Heck, maybe even someone could cook up an "classic Amiga" board based on Natami. |

I was thinking of the 2 pics at the bottom of that page
"The CPU, Memory, Graphics & Audio.....all on a single micro PCB, and it's only 2" x 2.5" !" |

Strictly speaking I wouldn't call that a PC tough, its barely more than a SoC (system on a chip) which there are tons of.
Many PCBs just have more (external) connectors, eg. Beagle Board that make them bigger. For me the case is more interesting (and unique)... and as I said it would be incredible if there would be a standard so you can just plug a "system card" into it |

I think the market appeal is there. It's appealing in the same manner a Macintosh is. NEat and tidy, all in one unit, except in this case it's all in the keyboard as opposed to the monitor, minimm of trailing wires and leads and other junk. And the fact that everything's in the keyboard works from an aesthetic and retro point of view. I think it works! Whether it will sell or not depends on the spec, availability, street cred (advertising) and price point. |
