RawDIC failure
Hi,
I recently set up a WB3.1 env using the great guide @ http://jambo.abime.net/howto.php. However, everytime I try installing a HD game (using WHDLoad), RawDIC always fails to read the floppy. It stops at track 2 saying: "No sync signal found". Tried several games and the failure is always the same. Any ideas would be highly appriciated. WinUAE: 0.8.22r8 ROM: Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.70 WB: Workbench v3.1 rev 40.42 |

Disable "turbo" floppy speed.
EDIT: Extended ADF's or CAPS-images automatically disable turbo, only regular ADFs in turbo mode don't emulate index or wordsync interrupts. |

Moi Toni,
I have tried setting floppy speed to 'Compatible' (and all the other modes), and it still always stop at track 2 because of no sync. Tried some other revs of the KS3.1 rom with no luck also. =/ |

What did you set in CPU settings?
Fastest Possible? A500 speed? Messed around with CPU->Chipset slider? CPU->Chipset = 4 is a good choice for full floppy accuracy, sometimes it even requires A500 speed. And you can give another accuracy boost by selecting 'cycle-exact' option in Chipset settings. (but please only set the latter if the first hints didn't work) |

How about a bit of useful information like what games you are trying to image?
RawDIC is only needed on custom format MFM games and it sounds to me like you are shoving in ADF's or something... |

Gday Codetapper,
regular DIC seems to work fine, it's only RawDIC giving the 'No sync for track 2' error. On Superfrog and Pinball Dreams for instance. Andreas, trying it out now. |

RawDIC was meant to image the *original* games, and they are not in ados format usually.
This is very true for the two examples you mentioned, hence the imaging for whdl won't work. |

Hi again,
it works perfectly with the CAPS version of Superfrog. I guess it's just me using the wrong images, sry for the inconvenience. |

@All
Sorry for up such an old thread, but where can i found original super frog floppy images ? I have the same exactly issue as TS , and all the images i can find of super frog are not original ones, but all sort of hacked ones. WHDload installer asked for 3 images version as well, but all i find everywhere is 4 images versions. |

Maybe you aware of any 3 disk original version but in adf/dms format ? Those seems to be ipf ones, and briefly install of the plugin into winuae didn't allow me to mount them ![]() |

For the WHDLoad install you'll need the original disk images and those are in IPF format.
Make sure the plugin is the latest 5.1 version and that it is in the same folder as the WinUAE executable. |

Yeah, i do have now in both winaue/plugins and in winuae roots file called "CAPSImg.dll", which is 5.1.0.1 version and of 157.184 of size. Then, when i run winaue, hit f12 and choose SuperFrog_DiskOne.ipf in df0, and winuae says "selected disk image need SPS plugin", etc.. Maybe it didn't works like this, and i should mount it somehow else ? Last edited by kas1e; 14 April 2023 at 08:47. |

The way you mount the floppy image is correct. Double check if you have the right version of the plugin (32 or 64 bit). It has to match the WinUAE version you are using.
In the worst case you can always get the pre-installed version by Retroplay on the file server: http://ftp2.grandis.nu/turran/FTP/Re...oad_-_Games/S/ |

Thanks, find out the issue : it was 800% of floppy speed, set to 100% and it works.

Also if you select 32 bit CAPS DLL with 64 bit or the other way round the error is silent
