split adf's ??

i've got a couple of adf images that appear to be split in half, files are labelled 1a and 1b etc and each half is 440k in size

anyone got any idea why this is and is there any way they can be combined?

In ms-dos type
Copy /B mydisk1.adf+mydisk2.adf mydisk.adf
to create the full 900K file.

found answer on http://www.blizzard.u-net.com/uae_faq.html

Hope this helps

They probably got split due to some transfer problems On Amigas with only 1Meg Ram, you got difficulties to transfer a full 880KB file at once, so it got split and can be written back to real floppy with transdisk half by half later

Send a message via ICQ to rgen
on the amiga you can use:

join fileA fileB as fileC

which joins fileA and fileB into fileC

Also files had to split into 2 parts if you transfer using 720k pc floppy disks, like I found out here http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3280

Splitting ADFs into 2 equal big halves is also very useful if you are transferring with the Crossdos method and a second external drive.
This way you can use Transdisk to write each half to the Amiga destination disk on the fly ! ( e.g. from the PC 720k disk in df1: to the Amiga disk in df0: )
So joining both parts back together isn't necessary, which saves some time

I use SplitzJoinz on the Amiga for splitting and joining files. Works fine.
