R-type

hi,

I love the amiga port of thise game, i think it's very close to the original, thanks to factor 5's programmation skills.
In the mean time i'm very upset with thechnical e first level because of the vanishing of the metal wall background which is in the original game!
Why is this wall missing? was it possible to draw it on the amiga?

The Amiga port is pretty good despite what other people said. Ony thing that annoys me a bit is the small game screen (to save performance maybe) compared with the console versions.

Well, I was thinking so, but maybe I'm misremembering/confusing games..

I'll check when I get home...

The fact that you asked and some quick googling make me think I might be wrong on that one..

they must be one, distributed by activision.
Activision is a us company, i don't know the size of the amiga market in us back then, but i assume it wasn't that small so it must be an us release!

The Amiga version looks good on photos, but is technically less advanced than many other R-type conversions. The backgrounds are mostly static.

Yes, this game could be enhanced, many other shooters are better technically than this one.

I think you can boot your Amiga in NTSC via boot menu (if 2.0+) and you get it! else any software for it, if exist

Not in the conventional sense its not.

There are clear differences and clear improvements in the Amiga version.

An ST port in the understood meaning means it doesn't differ from the ST version, when that clearly can't be the case.

Factor 5 got the assets from Activision, and those were used in the Amiga version.

btw, the r-type graphics are a bit dark....

Only the program code is 'amiga'.

Oh true

It must be the heat lol It's an oven in my office

More seriously, the R-type II has been ported from the ST. Arc development never used the Amiga as the main plateform.

any of their games are ST ports : Forgotten Worlds, Crack Down, R-type II, Dragon Breed, etc.....

R Type 2

The amiga version has parallax and the graphics look better than the ST version and seems faster.

Factor 5 had only 2 month for the R-Type Amiga port. Sure, it could have been technically better but the gameplay is decent enough.
