Is Waxworks the same?
There still isn't a 100% version of that.

There's only two versions I know of, the Fairlight version which has a very serious bug on the egyptian level where you simply cannot move at all.

The other version is by Ministry and there's apparently a problem in the london level where a certain event never happens making it impossible to continue.

There's a thread about it somewhere on here, the only way it was completable was by playing one version, saving the game and then carry on playing it with the other version.

I can assure you I finished the game back then and I didn't use 2 versions. However, I played the german version, that might explain it.

Edit: I'll check my dusty diskboxes, maybe I still have the disks. I doubt it though.

What I do remember, the crack was quite strange though, a friend of mine had to disable his fast mem otherwise it wouldn't work, he had a Blizzard 1220/4. I had some crappy MTEC 8 MB fast ram card and it worked fine. I also seem to recall that in the (rather lame) textscreen at the beginning they wrote that they took the english crack (dunno which one) and fixed some thing and that this version now is 100%. And indeed it was.

There is a 100% german crack of Waxworks out there? I searched the codes for years until someone put them in the zone here Any chance anyone still have that crack?

Frontier, if i remember correctly, had a "search the word" protection, only it did not stop you from playing for a wrong one, but it would ask you periodically and maybe remembering and adding up the errors. so that you were stopped sooner or later.

From adventure games, Personal Nightmare is copy-protected.

If I remember right, here are some more.

Future Classics, red shiny letters on red non-shiny background, wtf?

Starblade, copy protection late in the game when going to a certain planet, never found a 100% cracked version back then. Maybe ok on whdload?

Oxyd/Per.Oxyd, a whole BOOK of codes written in e.g. lightish pink on darkish pink and other horrible shades.

Frontier was incredibly annoying (you needed a cracked copy just to enjoy the game!).

Also, Rocket Ranger required you to figure out exactly how much fuel to put into your jetpack for each journey... Miss by a digit and it's game over!

Oh man - Elite on the Spectrum.

An age to load, holding the lenslock device against the screen, and then having 5 seconds to enter 2 digits or another several minute wait to load from tape....

Send a message via MSN to dlfrsilver
you mean manual protection ? Because the copy protection on disk
once removed never appears anymore.

I'm going to have to beat ALL OF YOU... with a wonderful corker on the Amstrad CPC called "Battle Beyond the Stars" > http://www.cpczone.net/game/112

It took around 3 minutes to load up, then you had to use a wierd... like... "thing" that you put onto your monitor,- then you had to squint your eyes to see through the... "thing" - and wierdly enough, I needed my dad to come help before I could play the game cos I couldnt see the bloody code.

not unlike one of them 3D "Magic Eye" things

I win :-)

Worst protection surely was any LensLok shit on the Spectrum
