Hi ladies and gents
Hello from France to the whole community.
I'm introducing myself: Littlebalup, male, in the prime of life. Retro gamer. Some skills in electronics, programming and modding. I'm discovering the Amiga world. I was recently given a gift of a somewhat shabby A500, which hadn't run for at least twenty years, with all its vintage cables and accessories. It suffered from random boots, a sluggish floppy drive, inoperative mouse buttons and, of course, a broken 512k memory expansion card (the Varta virus). But it was relatively clean on the outside as well as on the inside. It is a 6A motherboard. The mouse (Tank model) was easily fixed by replacing the two push buttons. The floppy disk drive has been cleaned and greased. Random boots have been fixed (it was bad contacts of the CPU in its socket). I also fixed the memory expansion board by replacing eight out of the sixteen chips, rebuilding a few traces, and replacing the clock battery with a CR2032. I also converted a Panasonic PC fdd just in case (I should post the modifications I made on it). Everything is working perfectly now . It's time to modernize it a bit, without denature it too much. And I'm sure I would find the best advice here, while doing my best to share my little experience. |
