A500 Internal (DF0) Floppy Drive says the diskette inserted is WRITE PROTECTED
when clearly it is not (I made sure the diskette tab is on the WRITE position, tried different diskettes as well)
My A500 reads and load the diskettes just fine, but when try to copy (X-COPY, D-COPY, etc.) I get this error. Is there a fix for this issue? Thanks in advance! p.s. It is a CHINON (Made in Japan) drive inside my newly acquired Rev 3.0 C= Amiga 500 UPDATE: It just happens that the floppy power molex was faulty (one of the 4 wires at the motherboard side came off loose, so I just replaced the cable altogether with a different one) Thanks for your responses though, I really appreciate it! Most likely the write protect switch is faulty. Look at where the write protect tab pushes down on a switch in the drive when you insert the disk. Some times they can be fixed by lubricating them with alcohol and 'excercising' them but sometimes they just need to be replaced.
It could also be a bad floppy cable and since that is an easier fix, I would try that first. |
