CD32 PSU pin configuration?
Hi all, I just did a search, but to no avail.
I scored a CD32 on eBay, but it's got a 110v PSU & I live in 240v territory. There's an A500 PSU at home that would be a pefrect solution, just need to buy a plug to suit the CD32 and wire it up. Soooo, does anyone have a diagram, or know where to find one? ![]() PZ. |

@fingers
I'm at work and can't try this link but give it a go http://amiga.emugaming.com/cd32faq2000.html#pinouts If not I will check out my CD32 PSU with a Meter tonight 4 U If the CD32 PSU is of no use to you, Prise it open and follow the wiring to the relevent regulator inside.???? You can also reuse the CD32 cable & wire it into the A500 PSU or splice the cables together, but the former would be neater. PS you have an NTSC /60Hz CD32 then??? Best of Luck ![]() Last edited by TheCorfiot; 26 March 2008 at 13:18. |

Yeah, the link didn't work, but I do thank you for the help
![]() I've managed to dig up an old 240v to 120v step-down transformer, I'll sort it out easily now. Yeah, it's an NTSC one...out of interest, why do you ask? Still isn't with me yet though. PZ. |

Being NTSC, You will need a 60Hz capable monitor and one that decodes NTSC colour signals...No RGB out on std CD32's only French... I think even holding the mouse buttons down on startup and selecting PAL only changes the Frame freq from 60Hz to 50Hz.... The S-Video or composite outpute remains NTSC encoded by hardware. That was quick finding a transformer..... magic from thin air ![]() CD32's are great you will really enjoy it |

Cool if your A1200(PAL Version) Works then the CD32 will too... at 50/60Hz
Composite video is the Luma (Black & white) & Chroma (colour) encoded together the chroma signal will be NTSC encoded. even at 50Hz Pal mode. 2 types of NTSC though 3.58MHz & 4.43 MHz depending on Japan or USA, can't remember which way round. The Pal / NTSC toggle is mis named it really should be 50Hz/60Hz frame rate. Most TV's these days decode NTSC colour signals too as well as cope with the frame rate. RGB Output is available from the CD32's PCB and if you are a dabhand with a soldering iron easily modded, loads of threads describing this. ![]() |

If so Quick....Wire up a 23way to Scart cable and drive the TV as a large RGB monitor.....with your A1200 / A500 and modded CD32. The difference in output quality is amazing.... Dont forget to include the Audio inputs too ![]() |

Scart is not standard in Australia, RCA is standard here (and S-Video on the newer gear)...in fact the last display I had with RGB inputs was the monitor my family got with our C=128 back in the 1980's
![]() Our pay-TV decoder has a Scart output, but as it seems to be designed in the UK, that's no surprise. The cable sits in a cupboard un-used…and never to be used by the looks of it. PZ. |

![]() Some Countries did manage to avoid taking on that awfull design connector then. (called Peritel & designed in France) Oh Well then S-Video from CD32 then Still much better than composite... ![]() |

@Fingerz
more than welcome my friend, I will say to those doing the TP9 MOD for RGB, its mentioned in the docs where i got the hack from THAT the SVideo port pulls down a bit so quality maybe an issue. It suggest that you may have to disable the circuit. if anyone is interested in this PM me or mention it here, and I post a schematic on how to do it safely. perhaps even have an on/off switch / button ![]() |

@Zetro,
Thanks! I must send you the info on the CD32 030 add on and the clockport. Will try and do that this weekend. @Fingerlickingb, You can use a standard 4 pin DIN plug and make your own CD32 power connector, if you are handy with a soldering iron. See my website for details, www.ianstedman.co.uk |
