I wonder what the male internal connector is good for. I would expect two female connectors to connect to the original mouse ports.

The second question is where to place the adapter on the A4000 case. Looks like it was made for an A1200 case and does not come with a slot bracket or something similar.

Once you got it connected, I am sure that it works, though. It's probably just another variation of this adapter: http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/ps2m

It looks very much custom made for the A1200.

You need an A1200 that is not 1D1, the mouse port needs to be detachable. At least 1D4 and onwards have it separate. The board is mounted to where the mouse port used to be using the D connector's nuts..

Basically the pin strip connects to the A1200 motherboard where the mouse connector would go, the female DE9 plugs into the joystick port.

One male DE9 is the mouse port and the other male DE9 is the re-routed joystick port.

I guess the other D9 is to use the additional mouse buttons and scroll wheel and the board itself can autoswitch between joystick mode and mouse mode (or it might not even autoswitch, just allows the joystick to clash with the additional mouse buttons).

It could be adapted for the A4000 I'm sure, you'd just need to replace the pin strip with a suitably wired female DE9.
