IBrowse and SSL
I'm somewhat confused (which doesn't take much at this age now) about SSL and the use of it in IBrowse on a 68k Amiga.
My config is an A1200 030@50 with 32meg of fast, 3.1 Roms and the Bloodwych WB Install. I recently purchased IBrowse 2.5.5 and installed also AmiSSL 4.10 ... much to my dismay literally every site I visit has an SSL issue apart from EAB, Aminet.. the usual ones. Now I'm only interested in accessing Amiga related sites, such as Mixel Lab that are making the game Creeping Me Out.. etc Is there something I'm not doing right? After reading about AmiSSL it's made to sound it has support for SSL based sites. I understand not all would be accessible but I'm not getting hardly any success at all. Cheers ? |

Check that you have installed AmiSSL correctly and also check if the AmiSSL assign really points to the path where AmiSSL is installed.

Have you done the following after installing Amissl?
Open a shell window and type the following and press return after each line: makedir env:amissl Setenv amissl/ssl_client_version tls1 Copy env:ssl envarc:amissl Then reboot. |

Might be worth installing older Amissl versions 1.1 etc… then implement amissl 4.6 then 4.10. That’s something I’ve done when building new OS builds from scratch. Ibrowse 2.5.5 works fine for me with SSL

You're quite right, although to be pedantic, IBrowse is currently built to use AmiSSL 4.4 or higher - first proper version with TLS 1.3. As AmiSSL 4.5-4.10 are backwards compatible, IBrowse can use those automatically, without a rebuild.

Probably thinking when I used Ibrowse 2.4. Watched how to do it via 10marc (Doug) on his YouTube channel. |

Are you using a proxy? If you have one, I would try renaming your IBrowse settings file, so the defaults get used, and see if that helps?
It certainly seems to be some sort of set up issue at your end and doesn't appear to be IBrowse's or AmiSSL's fault. You could also try "AmiSSL:OpenSSL s_client -connect hostname:443" in a shell, replacing "hostname" with whichever web host you wish. This may show more information about the problem, if it doesn't connect. |

This is very interesting and I Hope it gets solved since i have the same problem. What is weird is that i just got internet to work on my A600 so got the demo for iBrowse and installed Amissl. Everything worked perfectly so i decided to do the same thing on my A1200 but i cant get Amissl to work. No matter what i do it is like its not installed and I cant reach any of these sites that requires ssl

My A1200 has I think 11.5 mb of ram and it usually fails to load AmiSSL if I have anything else running than IBrowse. SnoopDos doesn't reveal anything, everything seems to be ok but doesn't just work. When I close everything (or even restart the computer if I've been using it for a while -> 'corrupted memory') all works ok.
