EAB Games League Season 1 Round 2 - Deluxe Galaga

Here we go again - this time it's...

Deluxe Galaga

The rules for this competition are in this thread. Here's a quick run-down though:

- The round starts at 12:00am UK time on Monday, June 11, and finishes at 11:59pm UK time on Friday, June 29.

- Scores can only be posted during the time of the round, any scores posted outside of this period won't count.

- You can play on a real Amiga or an emulator, whatever you prefer.

- If you can, take screenshots or use a digital camera/mobile phone to provide proof of your score, however if you are unable to do this then you can upload your high-score file as confirmation. You should also write your score in your post.

- Anyone can enter at any time, and you can post as many scores as you want during the round. Of course, only your highest score will count towards the final standings.

- Between June 16 and June 22 the voting will take place for the third round's game, a thread containing details will be created nearer the time.

- At the end of the round, the player with the highest score gets 12 points, 2nd place gets 10, 3rd 8, 4th 7, 5th 6, 6th 5, 7th 4, 8th 3, 9th 2 and 10th 1 (assuming that many people take part).

- No cheating! No using save states, cheat codes, trainers or anything like that, and no modifying scores in any way. This competition is just a bit of fun and hopefully no-one will sink that low. However, if you genuinely suspect someone has cheated in any way, please PM me and I'll look into it. If I find someone guilty of cheating, they will be banned from the league for the entire season.

READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU START

- You must use the latest version of Deluxe Galaga (v2.6, full version) - the one on Aminet. You can use either the AGA or ECS version, WHDLoad or not - that's up to you.

- You must have these options set in your config:

Quote:
Money bonus in meteorstorm_______________[YES]
Money limit______________________________[UNLIMITED]
Level limit______________________________[UNLIMITED]
Ship Armour______________________________[YES, PLEASE!]
Cash Sucker______________________________[YES]
The other options are, of course, down to personal preference.

(You can access the config menu by running the game for the very first time, by deleting your current prefs file or by holding down the left mouse button as the game loads.)

- Also the difficulty level must be set to Normal, and obviously you must play a one player game.

- Continues are not allowed, as stated in the rules.

I think that's it. If you have any questions, you can either post them in this thread or in the Rules thread. Thanks and have fun!

Final Scores:

1. VermillioN - 46,652,945
2. bippym - 33,247,540
3. Graham Humphrey - 8,931,485
4. mailman - 8,824,630
5. Magno Boots - 1,172,315
6. ppill - 822,510
7. Shoonay - 367,785
8. jimbob005 - 325,795

Probably wont have time for this one, but here is my best from the lemon compo late last year!

5,219,820

Massive scores are possible if you have the patience, 11 Million was the top at Lemon, but that should be easily beaten!!

This game has a pretty big chance element. I mean it's only level 15 but three Warp Malfunctions, one Meteor Storm and got pretty lucky with the power-ups.
One time I was able to buy the Plasma gun during the first visit to the shop (thanks to the money bomb on the SECOND level).

Good game though Had never played it before this thread started.

Is there like a rule to what kind of power-ups you get. Accuracy? Time? Consecutive hits?

Yeah it does matter because it's a different version The one on Aminet (or in KG's WHDLoad packs and on WHDownload) is the final full version and doesn't actually fit onto a floppy disk. So sorry, it doesn't count.

And besides, I can't actually make out the score in your screenshot very well and you didn't write the score in your post. It would be better if you took a pic of the highscore table straight after you died (if you get on there ) like everyone else has done so far.

That's a good score, I'm relieved actually you might not enter this round

I'm not sure really, there are quite a lot of secrets though (you can buy them in the shop if you really want to, I'm sure someone's posted them online somewhere though) so it wouldn't surprise me. Any ideas anyone?

Good idea Bippy, I've done that now. I've uploaded the AGA and ECS versions from Aminet to the Zone, as well as the WHDLoad-installed versions of both of them, so take your pick

I will do that from the start of the round in future if there is multiple versions of a game to avoid any confusion.

What version are you using? Are you playing it with WHDLoad?

If you're using the WHD version, I use:

68020, 2MB chip, 8MB fast, JIT enabled, KS3.1, AGA (obviously), WHDLoad 16.7 and v1.1 of the slave.

If you're not using the WHD version, try it, it might do the job
