Arrow Instructions: HOW TO install a G-REX1200 to an RBM: TowerHawk 1200 ex Tower

It is about time I make this "tutorial" of how to install a g-rex on a RBM TOWERHAWK EX tower system...
it was promised to DJBASE after all

First, this can only work if you have the RBM ZorroII busboard (rbm1200ex.jpg). If you do not have it you must heavily modify the tower, because the A1200 motherboard in installed the oposite way...
See the tower here: http://amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1353

To my surprise the only thing needed to do was to cut a part of the back tower... yes, only ONE cut and nothing more... see rbm1200ex_back.jpg , the red line shows where to cut. The whole area inside the green line is detachable and you can unscrew it... After the cut, take the lower card-holding piece and just screw it like the picture, no need to do anything, all the holes are there... and now this piece is alligned with the G-Rex1200 pci cards! BUT you loose the 2 bottom pci-slots... because they are too low... See the BPPC+G-REX1200+ZII busboard inside the RBM1200EX tower system... not bad for a tower that was not meant to be used with a G-Rex1200! (rbm1200ex_zII-grex.jpg)

Also I was wondering... if you cut the G-Rex1200 board on the red outline (mod-zII.jpg) you would free up the upper zorroII slot... and then you could easily use a half sized zII card, like E3B: Highway USB or Algor cards... there is no traces on the g-rex on that point, so I assume it is safe to cut it there

So there you go my friend DJBASE, add this to your excellent and helpfull Unofficial G-Rex Support Site!
