Games

Is AMR just for "games" like HOl is?

I find there is so much more to Amiga than just games, and it'd be nice to see AMR support the other sides.
I'd like to see hardware, serious software, PD etc and all other aspects of magazines scanned too (Letters pages etc)

Smile I agree...

@bippym - I agree with you.

I really hope that some of the technical pages and programming articles from CU Amiga and Amiga Shopper are Uploaded soon.

Also, big thanks to the person who Scanned in the AMOS programming articles from the Issues of Amiga Format in 1993.

(I'd been after them for Years.)

It isn't just for games, but that's the initial focus due to dual use with HOL.

If anyone wants to help with indexing the non-games please content contact me. I just don't have time for it at the moment.

NP with the AMOS articles - I scanned those because I knew there was a lot of interest on EAB for programming articles.

Also, we'll consider scanning anything specific that is requested, but bear in mind that the team is small and we have a lot on ot the moment.

One thing I should point out - I've tried to make sure that I scan all contents pages so that users of AMR can see what is inside an issue (and request the article).

As we expand AMR we will get greater coverage both in the indexing as well as the scans - but this is a long term project.

We are currently working on a way of indexing articles. Non-game reviews are another area that will be added over time. However one factor preventing this at the moment is the lack of a good classification system for these - so if anyone is really interested and wants to have a think about good ways of classifying these contact me - no guarantees but we might be able to start indexing some once we have some free time. Note the classification system needs to be simple - prob on a similar level of complexity to the games.

I agree with Galaxy that indexing and scanning reviews of all types of applications, whether being it full price or PD, is a huge job. I have some experience with it. Since a couple of weeks I am almost obsessively indexing everything from Dutch Amiga Magazine (check out http://amr.abime.net/issue_989 for example).

I think that hardware and professional programs should be added to both HOL and AMR.

Pictures of Hardware in HOL, links for drivers, and then articles about that hardware.

This would make life much easier for someone willing to buy accl. card for example.

I know it would be long term process, but it will increase use of HOL and AMR to be all amiga resources, not just games as BippyM noticed.

And btw, thank you for DevPac2 and Amos tutorials!

If AMR requires more space to expand its content I would more than happy to help with that hostage.

AMR has indeed touched a lot of people here and if there is ANY way i can help I would be honoured.
