you pick up installer 43.3 from aminet, then you go on CLI and type :
1) go on directory : system:C/ and return 2) from here, type : lha x ram:installer-43_3.lha (i suppose you put installer archive in RAM) installer program file must then be in system/C folder. Now try to install a game. |

The lha has a folder in it, so you have to move the installer file from there to 'C'. But yes, first extract it. Just checked Flood again and it should simply start. Hope someone can shed some light on this one, because the same thing happened yesterday on a real Amiga.

Since you already know how to edit files on the Windows side, let's just skip the installer nonsense Copy 'newicons' to 'c' and then comes the a bit more tricky part. In the folder 'S' you find the 'startup-sequence'. You need to edit it, but it needs to be saved in unix format (different line-breaks). You can use Notepad+ for that. Edit the startup-sequence and put 'run <>NIL: c:newicons' after the lines which start with 'PATH'.

You can have a fully working Workbench 3.1 environment with AmigaSYS, with the necessary libraries and tools, provided you own legit WB 3.1 ADFs.
Then you can come back later to building your very own system (AmigaOS 3.9, why go for less ), brick by brick, which is not very difficult but requires some understanding of the Amigaian way of life . |

Only put the file 'newicons' which you find in the NewIcons folder in 'c'. Then only the main problem with WHDLoad remains
No, don't change the path line. Put the line I posted after that (in its own line). |

Sorry, but without the 'Path >'. Just 'run <>NIL: c:newicons'. We're almost there (for the newicons that is)

Oops... you also need the 'newicon.library' from the 'NewIconsV4\Libs\LE' folder. Put it in your 'Libs' folder.

Phew
Okay, let's check it again : WHDLoad in 'C'. WHDLoad.prefs in 'S'. You aren't using any *cough* 'test' key. |
