Lionheart - Topshots Deluxe - 1994

Hi Guys,

I have uploaded Lionheart Budget release published by Softgold in 1994 in the zone. Scans are on HOL (manual, disks and manual).

Enjoy !

Hello and thank you so much!
May I ask if this is the most updated version of the game?

Again, thank you so much!

Yes it's the last one released.

Not true.

The Softgold disks are IDENTICAL to the Thalion disks. The disks contain the same files, with the same file names. They have the same date and timestamps. The files are binary identical.

i.e. Same game, different box.

Thanks everyone for the information. Maybe it is the last published but not the most updated one?

I'm searching for the updated version mentioned in this other topic, which should be free of a (minor) bug, if I understand correctly.

The topic is from 2008 but in Turrian FTP folders starts from 2013...
(for the same reason I'm also searching for the unprotected Flashback version from Delphine Collection "IPF to ADF" but, again, I can't find in The Zone).

Thank you so much!

Maybe it's one of these: http://grandis.nu/turransearch/searc...0&httplinks=on ?

I've never seen anything other than SoftPres IPF 0845 (the Thalion release) which I've proved today is identical to TopShots Deluxe ADFs created by dlfrsilver.

Reference is made to an "updated" version of Lionheart in post #15, eventually uploaded in The Zone(?). One thing that is not clear to me is if the bug found in the first post concerns only the WHDload version or also the ADFs.
Thanks

dlfrsilver is very enthusiastic and experienced but his posts are not always easy to read presumably because English is not his first language.

I interpret his post to read
  • there are 3 different versions (presumably meaning packaging, there were 3 different boxes)
  • he has two
  • one is the Thalion release (aka Softpres 0845)
  • one is NOT the Thalion release (the TopShots version discussed here?)
  • he doesn't know which one is updated.

That is not the case between 0845 and TopShots files he uploaded. They are identical.

Maybe dlfrsilver has the 3rd version? I think you have to assume it doesn't exist until he can provide the files again.

I try to clarify how things stand.

There are like 4 types of Lionheart' executable and different releases / packages.

Demo/beta: there are various versions (including some with trainers), the executable is around 226/228K.

Leak: this is the version that has spread on the scene, probably 'lost' by some magazine who had it in preview.
The unpacked executable is always 259092 bytes; there are different versions, due to different decompressors or trainer versions, but the code base is identical and the game is complete and fully functional.

Release: this is the official version, SPS 845 Thalion release or TopShots re-release.
The unpacked executable is 259288 bytes; small patches to make it better work on different memory configurations and similar.

Upgraded: this is a limited and pretty rare version
The unpacked executable is 259636 bytes; small patches to make it better work on AGA and faster processors
(and probably some fixes here and there, but not enough to fix some graphic glitches and 'cloud' problem).

That's all

I imagine WHDload Lionheart v2.3 is the best one to use and set icon tool type CUSTOM5 depending on your Amiga.

I remember there is a bug on an earlier version if you loose a credit at the Lava boss. dlfrsilver once uploaded an updated version where this has been fixed.

Thank you Ross for all those infos on my favorite Amiga game, i did not know there was a later version
( the 259636 bytes exe version )

I did finish Lionheart (the 259288 bytes exe version) about 50 or more times,
but never noticed any "Cloud" problem.

Any Infos on that ; whats that all about ?
Also, what graphic glitches ? (that stripe on the right side on some stages in aga?)

I can produce a slight graphic glitch in the bossfight on the Flying stage if i trick/speedrun the boss.

Hhhhm, any info on my favorite game is highly appreciated

I always used the "native way" to run the game on real and FPGA Amiga´s and never had any issues. But a WHDLoad version is good for people who needs/wants it.

A very special thanks to AlexH for providing the Links

Happy gaming

They are listed in the WHDLoad slave description: http://www.whdload.de/games/Lionheart.html

No credit to me. It was Hexaae who Zoned them all that time ago (2019) and whoever maintains the FTP server.
