Bean Versus The Animator - A cool looking arcade shooter for your Classic Amiga
Quote:
http://www.indieretronews.com/2021/0...l-looking.html 6AM is a bit early for me, but should be a decent enough game going by Amiga's stream the other week. I also searched for BEAN and didn't come up with anything |

Thanks for mentioning it Neil! If anyone is interested it's available on the itch.io page:
https://17bitretro.itch.io/bean-versus-the-animator It's a new/old game having been started in '94 and forgotten about until the the start of the pandemic. It's for the A500+, so 1MB of Chip RAM, and comes on 5 virtual disks. |

Thanks Evillord68 I really appreciate it! Despite the good state I found it in there was a lot of work to finish off. Plus re-learning 68K ASM It was fun though, the Amiga is fun!

Obviously purchased I find it a very well done game, full of that experimental AMIGA magic!
Tested on A-1200 + V1200 the floppy game works transparently! I have dedicated a news on my channel to warn friends! [ Show youtube player ] I hope for your new job! |

Thanks AmyMor! A Workbench launch fix will be arriving shortly for 68040+ and Vampires. I'm just testing it through.

It certainly has similarities! There are a lot of old references to film and games of the time buried in there. Both Dom and I swear we had never played the arcade machine when we put it together originally, but I bet we'd seen it!
An update has now been released for running from workbench on higher powered machines. (I forgot the VBR basically - 'doh!). |

Just got it installed but can’t start the game. The mouse doesn’t work at all and the joystick just moves a little circle up and down slightly on the main screen.
EDIT: ok the answer to this is DO NOT press the joystick fire button when loading as you cannot control the pointer at all with it. The mouse also will not work unless you click the mouse button to initially start the game! Last edited by Superman; 20 July 2021 at 00:12. |

Hi Superman, thanks for buying. Hope you like it. Pressing the fire button using port two will activate lightgun input, but if that happens you should be able to press escape at the menu and then click a mouse button to start. The game should also detect a mouse button in either port 1 or 2.

Downloaded and installed from ADF version 1.1 now works wonderfully from Hard Disk, even better than the floppy counterpart that occasionally glitched.
The game is installed on WB 3.9 Amiga1200 + VampireV2! |

I must congratulate you on this game. It's really well made and right up there with many commercial titles from back in the day. Less than £5 purchase is a bargain really and I would recommend everyone to support you and buy it. |
