I used AmiTCP 3.0b2 for years too. I only switched to Roadshow for the extra speed, and it wasn't as easy as I expected.

Roadshow has source code available for its utilities, which is just as well because AddNetInterface had a nasty bug that took me a while to track down. Some day I might write my own version that doesn't have such convoluted code.

Interesting forum thread about the bug, good share. Looks like Roadshow is a lot faster, is that true for other programs besides iBrowse as well (telnet, ftp, irc, smbfs, etc.)?

I've been using this version for several years, works good, but have no idea how it compares to other TCP/IP stacks.
I use Genesis from OS3.9 and this is actually AmiTCP with a Reaction GUI wrapped around it. AmiTCP kernel for this one is version 4.6.

Sorry, I didn't phrase this well.
It's not about technical support it's about supporting the few remaining members of our community that create quality software in 2021.

Roadshow is €25. That's nothing.

I can think of several good reasons not to include it in AmigaOS 3.2. Keeping the network stack separate means people can run if and when they want or not if they don't. It helps to keep it portable too, and of course you can run whichever implementation you like best.

If a network stack was included in AMigAOS I bet it wouldn't be long before they were inextricably linked and you would no longer have the option of running a 'lean' system without networking.

I pared AMiTCP3 down to the point where I could install it on a bootable floppy with plenty of room left for other stuff. I was working on removing the AREXX port to pare it down even more when I discovered Roadshow. Perhaps I should look at that again, and maybe also figure out how to speed it up. There has to be a reason for Roadshow being so much faster in IBrowse.

This is easily solved by having it installed (preferably optional) but disabled. Enable/disable as needed, like dragging a commodity into WBStartup.
