Indivision Aga mk1 for A4000D
Hello,
I just bought Indivision Aga card (mk1) for my Amiga 4000D. Before I start to installing it, I'd like to know a couple of things. First; my machine has Picasso IV and 3 other Zorro cards installed. I also have A3660 card 50Mhz installed. How much does Indivision generate heat ?! I see it would be a tight fit (?) with Picasso installed. Should a cooler fan be installed ..?! I recall seeing some kind of special fan for This purpose being mentioned somewhere before ( a special fan with customized install kit for A4000Ds with Mediators !?). From where to get that fan kit..? Second; Is the Indivision Aga mk1 card actually difficult to install (physically) properly ? How sensitive is the part that is about to be connected to Alice chip ? So, is it eady to damage the pins or something, or will it be likely to fit easily ?! Ok then; let's assume that the card will be succesfully installed in place; How tight does it fit, will it be a pain to Remove the card without damaging it or the Alice chip ? Third; if I'd want to use both the Picasso IV and the Indivision card at the same time; Would this be possible ?! Would the Ratte switch (?) do the trick ? From where to get that one ? - It is not difficult to install, align it squarely and push hard. The socket and/or Alice will not like it if you have it in an incorrect orientation.
- It will fit with the PIV installed. - It will work at the same time. The PIV already has a reasonable-ish flickerfixer included, but the Indi AGA MK1 does jerk free 49.92Hz where I seem to remember my PIV didn't seem to quite manage this, even after resetting the flifi settings. - A Ratte switch could be one option. You will have to set DISPLAYCHAIN=NO in the PicassoIV monitor tooltypes if you decide to go that way. Me personally, I'd just use the PIV flickerfixer since it is already there and works seamlessly. |

Agree with you guys. In my machine the Indi is a tight fit against the bottom of the Mediator logic board, and I’ve had to tape over a resistor on the back of the indi to avoid contact on the logic board, but there are no heat concerns.

I was under the impression, that it’s documented that a resistor or capacitor on the A4K has to be changed to a low level type. For the Indi to fit properly? Or was that just for the MK2 and higher?

Looking at the blurb for the MK3 on icomp.de;
(*)This flickerfixer will only fit into an A4000D after jumper J214 has been bent aside. This jumper was meant for a future chipset that was never released. The Mk1 guide doesn’t mention anything special for the 4000D; https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/re...dual-computers |

Ah, had missed that one. But agreed, I don't remember modifying anything to fit the mk1 back in the day.

Ok, the card has been tested to work !
First, I did get flashing screen & power led; but the cause appeared to be loose memory simm on mobo. Those damn connectors.. I recently got some faster Simms to test on my A4000 mobo, but those simms appeared to be physically wrong sized. And the connector holes on those simm sides were too large for the damn original connector clips (!). So, maybe wrong thread, but I would be interested in buying some 60 ns 2 mb simms that would fit better ! Ps. How much does the Indivision card actually "wear" Lisa chip by heat etc ? |

There are fans for the A1200 version. Personally I don’t own a Indi for my A4K but have used them on A1200’s (Mk1 to 3). I don’t think it’s anything to be too worried about.
