A500 keyboard 8 pin header Connector
Hi Guys,
I just had a question about this thread found on Google search: http://www.amiga.org/forums/archive/...p/t-31866.html One of the posters insists that the clock and data lines are swapped, but I’m having issue with the “found out the hard way” reference. Given that both lines are logic outputs and probably the same voltage it looks to me like finding out the hard way only means it doesn’t work. So I’m just wondering if he had the clock and data lines mixed up at the keyboard end of the connector or messed up something else. This post is Amiga friendly, limited to 80 char width! Cheers, Art. |

It’s bollocks, the schematic is correct AND if you swap them,
the hard way you learn it’s wrong is you have to desolder and desolder two wires! Last edited by xArtx; 31 January 2015 at 08:24. |

@xartx
Noone insisted on anything. The danish guy mixed up pin 1 and 2 when reading/writing from schematics. His A500 has same pinout like yours, no matter if it's sold in denmark or australia. The following poster mixed external keyboard connector with internal, claiming "there is no reset line". As the sum of it: never trust a forum user @pandy71 I can't figure out what your point is. The linked section refers to external keyboards. Afaik only signalling and syncing is same on a500. Knowing about bidirectional lines doesn't help when accidentally swapping with unidirectional. |

It’s because I said both lines are unidirectional... The schema just doesn’t appear to show that.
In any case my CD32 has RS232 and keyboard working together I do have another question tho.. Just wondering if any hardware matrix information is available such as this one for the C64: I have a spare controller I was hoping to try at least completing a numeric keypad. You can't swap lines by mistake unless you really want - use 8520 as a reference (PCB traces from 8520 PIN's to isolate line), side to this i would say you can't swap clock and data, especially in case where you can load data to register with known pattern and compare it with clock. Or perhaps i don't understand what are you doing then please describe problem. Quote:
