How to do CD32 games compilation

Hi

Looking "official" CD32 games i found that there are some
"unofficial compilation" of "standard OCS games"

I'm curious about the "making of", but i really found anything useful about
Someone can give me useful information ? (links, guide, etc.)

Thanks in advance

Hi there - I'm in the process of writing a guide for creating single-game conversions, so I'll be able to help you get started

Not so sure about creating multi-game compilations (I've not got that far yet), but the best thing to do would be to download some of the existing compilations and look at the structure.

Anyway, before you get started you'll need:

WHDLoadCD32
Some installed WHDLoad games (OCS/ECS only) / Some filed/hard disk installable games
The C= CD32/CDTV developer kit (search my previous threads for 'creating a self booting CD32 disc' and you'll find a link there.

A note - hardly any AGA games will work in WHDLoad format on a plain CD32 due to memory constraints - the CD32 does not actually have a full 2MB to play with because the CD drivers take up some of the RAM, and many WHDload games require additional FastRAM, etc. However, if you've got the patience to mess around with files and startup-sequences you can get some to work - I've recently created unofficial ports of Deluxe Galaga AGA, Monsters Of Terror and Teeny Weenys (with a lot of help from peeps on this board).

Anyway, I can't help anymore at the moment because I'm at work, but I'll post more info here later

Thank you

In effect this must be a "professional" work
Nothing that i really can do, i already know
Too complicated for me

However, i have a more simple question about this kind of project

AGA Chip wasn't incompatible with OCS Chip ?
CD32 is an AGA machine, games (most of them) are written for OCS

So, how exactly is the situation ?
You must also change in someway the game code ?

I'd really appreciate an asnwer to this

Bye

It is complicated, but not impossible. After you've made a handful of ports you'll get the hang of it.

The solution to most problems caused by OCS/ECS incompatibility is WHDLoad. The WHDLoad installations quite often fix problems that prevented the game running on an AGA machine, so they are the best solution when porting older titles over to the CD32.

The CD32 does still have the A1200 'hidden' boot settings screen though where you can select the chipset to use, etc. Just plug in a mouse and hold down both buttons when resetting the machine

I've been thinking about this today Heavy Stylus.

Did you ever have a go at getting Slam Tilt to work? I'd be interested to know if it's possible.

There is a thread about how to make a CD32 compilation disc here - http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=40027

The program is still being updated!

Maybe a different approach is needed, I never used the menu system of CD32 444 / 888 compilations. I didnt come across problems running WHDLoad games on CD32.
