Pirates! - Tiles issue
I've been trying really hard to identify any tiles for constructing a game map for "Pirates!". I'm utterly stuck and want to ask any super-user for assistance with this.
I've attached a savestate and a screenshot of the map associated with the very same screenshot. Please note that the sea is animated (tiles?). Maybe this has to do with my difficulties identying the tiles? I found a map on Hall og Light but the sea is just a blue background which is not very useful as the animtated sea is quite important to the map, as it shows the ocean reefs Anyway, I hope someone can guide me to with regards to why I can't seem to find the tiles for the map. Thank you very much. |

Yes.
I've found what I suspect is the graphic tiles for the map, I've tried several bitplane Heights and Widths, all bitplanes and modes but still I get nowhere near a tile that is recognizable. That's why I'm looking for someone to have a second look at it. |

Pirates stores tiles in an annoying format, there's a custom mode for Pirates! already in Maptapper (not sure which version however).
Here they are, 32x16 blocks. |

start to look at $F94AC in your savestate...this area looks interesting...seems to be some kind of map data...

Thank you, Joe.
So, now at least I can see the structure of the map, setting the width to 60 and the height to 200. But... the land tiles are wrong and the ocean tiles are all missing. I tried using the "Adjust" function but it does not correct this. What am I doing wrong? Is it because the ocean tiles are animated (playing the game)? Is it possible to do the entire map correctly, including the ocean tiles? My project is attached (including savestate, extended game image and game tiles). Hope I didn't start out on mission impossible here. |
