On Amiga where you are pasting the text?

clipboard sharing also works well in reverse, sharing between Notepad Windows and Amiga Editor.

@vokri

How are you doing the copy paste - have you got copy/paste working on the Amiga side already - i.e. RAMIGA-C (copy) and RAMIGA-V (paste)?

You might have to map your keyboard for the RAMIGA key (I use my right CTRL key, since I don't have a right Windows key).

Hhhmm...just tried myself.

Clipboard sharing enabled in WinuAE, booted a Workbench 2.0 ADF, tested in an AmigaShell window, RAMIGA-C/RAMIGA-V copy/paste working locally in WinUAE (using mouse to select text), but not working between PC and WinUAE.

Clipboard sharing requires at least KS 2.0 (clipboard.device needs to be at least v37).

Also make sure you don't run WinUAE as admin because Windows programs with different privilege levels can't access each others clipboard.

Run with -log command line and check that "clipboard initialized" appears in the log window.

Also note that not all Amiga programs support system clipboard. Try testing copy and paste to/from Amiga shell window.

EDIT: you also need to have UAE boot rom enabled (=manually enable it in ROM panel or enable some UAE expansion, like directory harddrive). Plain unexpanded A500 or A1200 won't work.

On the Worbench 2.04 boot disk the clipboard.device version is 37.4.

I did do the mounting a dummy directory trick (as I did find a post about it), but that was initially when I tested a Workbench 1.3 boot disk.

I mounted a dummy directory (DH0, non bootable) and booted the Workbench 2.04 disk (clipboard.device version is 37.4). I tested in a Shell window and I am able to copy paste locally using RAmiga-C and RAmiga-V. But it did not appear on the clipboard on the PC side.

In the logs, I could only find:

clipboard: reset (00000000)

This is on WinUAE 4.4.0 (2020.07.01) 64-bit.

I tested 32-bit WinUAE and found that last working is 3.3.0 beta 3. Something in 3.3.0 beta 4 was changed that clipboard sharing don't work with OS 2.0. With OS 3.1 don't have that problem.

I can also confirm that it works when emulating an A1200 (Kickstart 3.1) and using a Workbench 3.1 (clipboard.device 38.8) boot disk, with a dummy directory mounted, cut and paste is working from WinUAE to PC. I do see a 'clipboard initialized' in the logs.

Interesting.. I made expansions that need dos.library run from RTF_AFTERDOS resident (which is the correct way to do it) in 3.3 but it looks like it is broken in KS 2.x.

When it runs ramlib (which is first in priority list), ramlib modifies D2-D5 without saving them, D3 originally contained resident type mask, ramlib cleared it -> following residents are skipped..

Oddly enough I have not seen any documentation mentioning this. I guess no one used it until KS 3.x or something.

I'll switch pre-v39 KS versions to use hack method to "fix" this.

Did you mount something, or use an expansion feature, to get the UAE Boot ROM to kick in?

Started WinUAE and emulated Amiga500 Workbench v1.3 rev 34.20 with clipboard copying box ticked. and then launched workbench->utilities->notepad

As per what Toni said:

"Clipboard sharing requires at least KS 2.0 (clipboard.device needs to be at least v37)."

Plus, you need to get the UAE Boot ROM to load. This can be done by using something that will require it. I just add/mount a directory in the "CD & Hard drives" section.

Then your logs should show something like:

Ultimately, you need to see "clipboard initialized" in the logs.
