Those computers are basically standard VIC-20 with some keys removed IIRC. Strange.

Any chance of getting a synopsis so we don't have to dredge through a video?

He drives a few hours to check them out. The biggest part of the haul is a whole stack of new custom VIC-20's. In styrofoam but without box, and varying levels of yellowing. Internally they're VIC-20's. Externally the keyboard has been removed and replaced with a keyboard that only has 25 or so keys. Seems to be this thing: http://www.muzines.co.uk/articles/th...r-is-smpl/1420 which was used for audio/music. It looks like 8-Bit Guy bought the entire stack. He drives a few hours back home and begins cleaning them. He donates some to some people he knows. He donates the rest to 1UponCancer who will be doing further cleaning and testing. When done, they will be sold/auctioned off to raise money for adults undergoing cancer treatment. If you're a collector or want to help a worthy cause, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on since they seem to be pretty rare. If you're a regular user, just pick up a regular VIC-20. (He also picked up a KIM-1 motherboard, which came right before the Commodore PET so it's pretty rare) |

The KIM-1 is the craziest find. Those are stupidly rare.
The keyboard-hacked VIC-20s are an interesting find. Some of them should probably be kept for historical curiosity, with the sketchiest ones turned into parts to keep other VIC-20s alive. |

The KIM-1 is the rare computer. The mangled VIC-20's are actually industrial junk, not valuable to anyone except maybe the original designers, or possibly people who want to use the parts to restore other machines.

Those old Index Access and Inside Outs could easily be turned into parts for A1200s, but they're amazing and valuable in their own right due to their rarity and historical interest. |

Yeah the kim 1 find was nice- i thought it an interesting modding of the vic 20's too. Must have been damn fun to find that haul.
