What scsi.device for a A2091 in a 4000D?
I've fitted my 2000HD A2091 into my 4000D so that I can rescue some data from some old Zip 100 discs. I might be being thick but what scsi.device will it use as the internal one already uses the original scsi.device?
Not a lot more to say really ![]() Dave G ![]() |

Should be 2nd.scsi.device

Or issue the Sysinfo program to see what devices you have currently in your machine.
It appear in the "devices" tab. |

@RobGoodison
That's what I thought but couldn't select that from iotools. @rkauer Sysinfo only reports scsi.device and not a 2nd.scsi.device. Time to do some more investigating ![]() Dave G ![]() |

If the device is not set to auto-boot will it appear without a bind-drivers call?

@alexh
I haven't got it set to autoboot because I haven't got a HD on the A2091. I didn't think I would need to do that without a HD ![]() A bit more information may help ![]() Internal IDE has 40GB HD and a CDrom. 3.1 Roms with OS3.9 BB1 - I'll get BB2 installed when I get chance ![]() Nothing else on A2091 except Ram and the Zip 100 connected externally as unit 6 and switch terminated. Dooohhhhhhhhhh ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for that tip ![]() Now found the drive with another bluddy problem...'Unable to obtain the correct buffer memory type, assuming MEMF_24BITDMA. Please use the settings menu to select the correct buffer memory for your controller.' Anybody know what this should be? Dave G ![]() |

In an A4000, neither the Fast RAM SIMMs on the motherboard nor the RAM on a CPU card are of such type. Some versions of the A2091 ROM can resort to a tragically slow and CPU-intensive 'programmed I/O' transfer mode if no "Zorro II DMA" RAM is found. You can either try some software hack that patches the A2091's device driver (e.g. driver/media/vbak2091.lha from Aminet), or get some 44C256 DRAM ICs and stick it to the A2091's RAM sockets. According to the BBOAH, even the version of the A2091 ROM can be critical (must be >=6.6 for 68040/060 CPUs). |

@a_petri
The A2091 is fully populated with 2Meg on board. The Roms are only 6.1 though. I'll try the patched driver tomorrow night. I haven't got time tonight. I'm sure I'd used the Zip on my 2000HD without problems (definately no problems with the Squirrel on my 1200 but unfortunately I've parted with the Squirrel) - I'll try it on there again if the patched driver fails. If you have an EPROM programmer, problem solved. Or a friend near you who have such hardware.
It's dead easy to grab the 7.0 ROM version (the archive). |
