Most time consuming game on Amiga?

For three evenings now (thank god for the save-state) I am spending too many hours on that platform game called Donk!. All I want is to grab some nice looking screenshots of unexplored worlds. So far, I've played tons of levels and discovered three worlds. The game really takes ages to finish. I cannot remember having spent so much time on one single game in any emulator let alone on a real Amiga.

I think in terms of levels and hours needed to get to the game-complete screen, Donk must be one of the largest games in history of Amiga. Do you know larger Amiga games?

Sure, Civilization, spend countless days with that because the Amiga is not very fast in calculating the opponent moves, so it takes a while to finish a large game

I lost several months of my life playing Frontier Elite II. Same to a lesser extent with the Settlers, and I think I was quite some way from finishing it.

Agh! Good examples you mentioned! When starting this thread I forgot those 'infinite' games without an end.

When i first got Civilization on the Amiga it was a "pirate edition". So there was no save option and i had to leave the Amiga 5 days -!!!- (i was getting some sleep also!) and nights on to finish it.
Also Captive, Eye of the beholder and Dungeon Master were "large" games.

Yep, agreed. Civilisation (6 months continued) Captive (6 months continued) Two of the very best games for the Amiga....

Oh...and I almost forgot...UFO Enemy Unknown....those damn sectoids...Don't even get me started on the lobster men from the sequel..

Paul Burkey's Foundation ate up far too much of my time when I was freelance and should have been looking for work.

Elite probably stole 5 weeks of my life just to get Elite ranking. Exile also was nice, it has a big map. Probably not quite 5 weeks for that one.

Ultima V, simply because of such an in depth plot. Frontier was another one, until I realised how much more effort was needed, and gave up. Sensible Soccer... which you could even play as a management sim whilst doing other things too; games running whilst cramming for exams, baby! I actually completed at least 2 full managerial careers like that. Study, study, study, whistle, injury, substitute, study, study etc

I must have played Eltie for something like 3 or 4 years, with the same pilot. Of course I didn't played it EVERY day, but I would always play it once in a week.

But well, that was on the MSX... when I got the Amiga I was gobsmacked by its Elite version, but I think I only played it for about 6 months.

The Settlers takes a DAMN long time to finish. There were levels where you could take up to 20 hours to finish. I never got to the end of that thing either.

Sensible Soccer -> SWOS 96/97

Been playing since the day it first arrived on the warez-market. That would be since '92.

Pirates! - been playing that too since the day I got it on the amiga 500. Around 90/91 I guess. I was introduced to Pirates! on the C64, but I never got a copy, since it was a friend of mines and it was an original. He played, I watched. I had to settle for Pirates of the Barbary Coast or something... can't really remember. Though I remember loving it.

Nah, I think I could reach the last boss in Chaos Engine in one sitting, in less than 2 hours

and then I could NEVER, EVER beat that bitch.
