Amiga running C=64 Vice Emulator
Hi all,
I asked this question only lemon64 but it seems to be going up and down lately so I'd figured I ask it on here as well. I was cruising the Vice 2.4 downloads and saw they make Vice 2.4 for OS3.x Original equipment. I do not see any requirements other than OS3.x. What I want to know is, will it run at realtime speed on a 7mhz Amiga 500 with ECS or would it require AGA and some speed behind it? Thanks for any help. I tried to find Youtubes in regards but I couldn't really find any. |

ive found c64 emulators on the amiga need some horsepower to work at or near full speed, and even more with sound.
so,no.i dont think it will run very well on a 500. |

I gave this a half hearted attempt recently but couldn't get it to work.
I currently use MagiC64 which works reasonably well but I am using it on an a1200 running 060@80mhz so...... |

A64 will run well on an A500 for running basic c64 progs. Don't expect much compatibility for games though especially any that require 1541 floppy emulation.

Thanks for the help everyone. I got vice working. I was going to put vice on my Amiga 500 but after hearing the reviews I got it working on my Amiga 1200, instead.

Hi mate. C64 too good to be emulated on Amiga properly. Spectrum emulation is good. Find little space on your desk for old good C64. Nothing beats the real SID.

There are many C64 emulators for Amiga. An older, possibly faster emulator for an A1200 is Frodo. Frodo is from the same author of Shapeshifter, so it may be a good emulator too. ftp://8bitfiles.net/www.funet.fi/pub...ulators/Amiga/ ftp://8bitfiles.net/www.funet.fi/pub...mulators/VICE/ ftp://8bitfiles.net/www.funet.fi/pub...tors/VICEplus/ ftp://easyjohn.dyndns.info/Amiga/CD%...odo64%2BGames/ ftp://easyjohn.dyndns.info/Amiga/CD%...es/Frodo21.lha ftp://easyjohn.dyndns.info/Amiga/CD%.../Frodo20Cr.lha Last edited by Leandro Jardim; 14 February 2014 at 14:04. |
