Feature request
Toni, you champion of champions you!
Don't think my feature request is in WinUAE, but here goes. Want my son to get into using WinUAE, obviously at 6 years old, him configuring it isn't going to happen. He's pretty good at PS3 controllers and Wii controllers, now I want to get him involved in PC/Amiga stuff so he can start to use a computer in a meaningful way. Is there any way that we can have WinUAE started by shortcuts, that have all the options preset for memory, cpu, floppy disk contents and autoboot from that? So if he clicked on a 'speedball2' icon on the desktop, it would automatically boot up WinUAE, look for a specific configuration file that would give WinUAE all the necessary information it needs and boot straight into the Amiga environment. I'm sure there must be something out there that does all this, but for the life of me I have no clue what it might be. At least if the shortcuts take care of the actual booting process, he can just get on with actually playing an Amiga game, he loves watching them on Youtube, now he's old enough to appreciate games, he might as well play the ones he likes watching. |

Just create a shortcut to an .uae configuration and make sure you save it without 'Show GUI on startup' in Misc being checked That should work exactly how you want it to be.

You can save a config (for example Speedball 2.uae) on the desktop, and if you have unchecked the option "show gui on startup", the emulation will start right away (Edit: TCD posted while I doublechecked that I wasn't writing lies )

I'm a realist, whilst I love the Amiga, and bemoan its far too premature end, its a PC he needs to know, and if a little Amiga rubs off on him, so much the better, at least there will be one kid in his class saying "Damn, the Amiga does it so much better", and everyone else will look at him wondering WTF he's talking about!
