Need help running AGA games with Picasso 96 installed.
Hi, folks, can anybody please help me figure out how to run HD installable games (NOT whdload, but games with native HD installers, whether from floppy or CD) when running a Picasso 96 Workbench? (In this case, I have an Ateo Concepts Pixel 64 graphics card.) I have a switch box which allows me to toggle between AGA output and RTG output, but the Pixel64 has no hardware pass through. I can run RTG games just fine (e.g., Bubble Heroes). But when I try to run an Amiga chipset native game, either both screens go black and the game locks up the entire Amiga (e.g., T-Zero) or else the RTG screen goes black and the output on the AGA side is flickery and scrambled (e.g., the copy protection input code screen on Monkey Island 2).
By the way, I can send OS friendly apps (e.g., Wordworth) to an AGA screen while keeping P96 Workbench intact. This really has me scratching my head, so thanks in advance!! |

What accelerator are you using? This could have more to do with that, than the fact you are using RTG. I have a 1200 with a TF1260 and Mediator based setup (so no pass through there either) and to be honest, I use WHDLoad for almost every game.
It really helps, as it bypasses all the issues you encounter relating to hardware or software. Some games do work well though, Settlers is a good example (just don't run the intro ) PS - Are you Steven on Facebook? Think we've chatted before, I'm Graham |

At least the first Monkey Island does this even with no RTG, when started from 3.x Workbench. It doesn't like AGA + setpatch. It's likely the problems are because of incompatibility with old games and AGA/KS3.1, and have nothing to do with the Picasso system. So, another vote to go WHDLoad from me. |
