I've already got a JAE. I did have a slim DVD ROM working with my A3000D until the drive went poof! I'm waiting for a replacement but that will go onto another project i'm planning. Ill get a slot loader for the A3000D.

To cut the 3000D case would be sacriledge. It would be equal to any of these;

Sacriledge. A common piece of junk like the A500 or A1200 makes no difference, but A3000s are too rare to mutilate.

I agree with that - much rather have an Amiga you'd use by modifying the case than just letting it sit there gathering dust...

I had a similar idea somewhile ago, but then I decided my A3000 is too beautiful to put a scar on that face. And I don't need the cd rom very often. When I need it I can just plug in the external case.
And, definitely a mod like this will lower it's price to half maybe less, no matter how well you perform it. The thing about amigas is everbody wants to mod his own amiga, nobody is interested in buying an already modded one. |
