Brian the Lion AGA WinUAE 133.

Hello there !

I got problems while running Brian the lion AGA.
If I use ipf or adf the game freeze (generally at level 1).
If I use a whdload install I get this message (see below)

Not to mention graphics bugs.

Is that an emulator bug ?
Is someone experiencing same problems ?

Try WinUAE 0.8.25, without problems.

Not problems here. Perhaps incompatible version (whdload error). Immediate blitter might be needed too (it is AGA game after all..)

This is imho quite nonproductive suggestion

OK, I was again challenged by this report and gave it a go

Yes, we DO have a bug! But a graphics bug, and I can't (yet) say whether it's WinUAE's fault or not. Sorry Toni, this is VERY far in the game (score > 150,000) and it'll be a bit difficult to get there without sacrificing a lot of time I'm playing the Comax crack, as the IPF version does require an original manual! (I have found one location where a word from the manual is requested. There might be a lot more ...)

If someone wants to test without playing all from the beginning, here's a code:
jFEEgvaqVT
REAL A1200 preferred, to verify it's not a bug caused by a rotten disk.

(Do not be too optimistic by hoping this is the level in question, since it's some stages before...but consider that codes are only rarely given out in the game.)

There's a save-state file in the zone too.

Lastly, disregard the trashed upper lines; those can be "fixed" by letting Brian jump up once

You wasted your time

(OP's problem does not appear to have anything to do with this)

DOH!

Yes I did ... yet it might be useful to have both of these in a more recent thread...

Lines on the top are caused by not fully emulated BRDRBLNK-bit (very low priority feature)
OK. Noted.

btw, Brian the Lion AGA graphics corruption in the bottom part will not be fixed in next release. (requires some not so small updates) Fortunately this problem can only occur in some rare AGA programs.
Now I also understand why HOL screens of the AGA version are still postponed.
I agree they can't be put in the way the dialog window appears now.

But as you requested it, back ON TOPIC eventually:

No freezes here, played with 1.3.3 public. He said "after level 1". Define "level 1"! Once I've beaten the 150,000 score, I would no longer assume I'm in level 1

Brian the Lion already causes problems for me while gamemap creating...

it changes the color registers with every vertical blank....it looks very nice but it seems it just work fine on real amigas (ECS and AGA)

i think it´s more a timing problem if anybody like to investigate more time for that problem...

Top border garbage is fixed in b7 (borderblank-feature finally updates border areas), couple of pixels still remain, will be fixed "later"..

No need, I'd just like to HAVE those gamemaps to find my way better than without
So if you found out a way how to do them, I'm happy to wait

Perfect! Looks good.

However...this is for ECS version. I would not be too surprised if the AGA version is different with some of the levels...

The pixels are still remain in the final, Toni. I assume you fix this in a later release, right?
