The best 'community' or 'homebrew' ports

Hi all!

Just wondered what people consider as some of the best (homebrew/community lead) ports? The dead project to port Sonic The Hedgehog to the ZX Spectrum kinda inspired this post.

So come on, what are your favourites? To Amiga, from Amiga or not even involving Amiga!

Someone missed the point ^^^ :P

I was thinking more along the lines of, you know, that Sonic to ZX Spectrum was a great example. Porting it onto lesser hardware.

Only a preview.

But there is a very promising port of Pinball Dreams for the C-64. The demo version looks & plays awesome.

Got to agree with Dizzy on that one... http://www.dcemu.co.uk/ is a cracker of a site!!

I still have my Dreamcast and use it on a regular basis (with over 100 original games + boatloads of emu's/games for it - it's a well worthy console!!).

Regarding mobile games... I'm heavily into a corker of a Java3D game by the name of PlanetRider.... very similar to Wipeout... but on your mobile phone and in lovely smooth 3D.

But lets get back on topic.....

http://www.fruit-emu.com/

If you like you fruit machines, well this site is to Fruit machines as MAME is to arcade games!! All your best machines... using REAL roms from the machines so they act and work EXACTLY as the machines would in an arcade/Casino

I must admit, I've never seen the fascination with fruit machine emulators. I mean, the only reason I'd play them is to win money.

Well... you can learn the "tricks" of the machines that can help you to win REAL money without the risks of loosing cash in the first place.

realy... they have "tricks"... i thought the trick wasn not to play... arguably the machine only pays out 70% of what it takes.... arguably.... your spending money on lpyramid scheme based on flashing lights and plonky esq noises and maybe the odd sample...

.... yeah i am jaded.... i never win.... so to succeed at fruit / gambling... i have a unique method... like with the english national lottery... without fail I WIN £104 per year... and have done for the last few years!!!

heres my trick to doing so....

(dont play!)

We all have our vices..... and to be fair I rarely play the machines... but it is handy to know how they work.... as for 70% payout.... that is only a voluntary code of practice(in the UK), machines could be set a lot less than that without the user knowing. On top of that... 70% is only a theoretical value... you never know when or how long you will have to play for to reach that limit.

If you ain't got the cash or the inclination..... agreed ... don't play!!
