Playing audio tracks on CD32 games

If there's a CD32 version of a WHDload game, and said game has audio tracks in it's CD32 version, shouldn't those audio tracks play if I place the CD in the CD32 before starting the WHDLoad version from the hard drive? This is the behaviour I expected but it doesn't seem to work like that in Pinball Illusions.

no audio tracks will be played on whdload,it haven't support for cd tracks
For cdda play you need a cd32 emulator like the one that comes with idefix package

Oh, I see, what's the point of the CD32 versions of installers then? I don't mean that maliciously, just curious.

Edit - Just to be clear I mean why make a CD32 version of an installer when a floppy version exists, and has Amiga audio and therefore not just silence when the CD audio should play?

You can play CD32 games on your Amiga 1200/4000. Makes sense for AGA enhanced or exclusive titles. Some CD32 games have chip and CDDA music, e.g. Fire and Ice.

Ah okay fair enough I suppose. Be nice if CD audio support could be added in the future, the CD32 has such a paltry amount of storage and with WHDLoad this restriction is removed. Really I can't understand why if the game is saying to the CD drive "play audio track x" that it doesn't just still do this in the WHDload versions.

Wepl said someday it would/could happen. We will see.

plans for the future

  • freezing of programs and restarting them later (using Snoop feature), aka savestates
  • ignoring/logging of Access Faults
  • support for CD-Audio for CDTV/CD³² games
  • Snoop with the 68040 (already implemented, but not working correctly)
  • MMU support under UAE (no special adaption in WHDLoad necessary if UAE supports MMU emulation)
