Problem with WinUAE and booting from floppy

Starting from version 1.3.2 if I use a 3.1 rom and set the cpu to "fastest possible, but maintain chipset timing" it won't boot from the floppy. It works fine when using 1.3 though. Version 1.3.1 is the last version that seems to work right for me under these conditions.

Wow, that is weird, doesn't happen here. Which CPU did you select?

Works fine here with Winuae 1.4.0 public beta 4

Maybe it's because you are using the wrong kickstart 3 ROM for the 68000 CPU setting?

Works with: KS ROM v3.1 (A500,A600,A2000) rev 40.63 (512k)

When using KS ROM v3.1 (A1200) rev 40.68 (512k) I get message alert saying The selected system ROM requires a 68EC020 or higher CPU

Well, I tested it again and now it's working. The difference: I recently upgraded my CPU. Before I was using a Celeron 900mhz and now I'm using a Celeron 1.2ghz. I guess it's a bug that only shows up when using a cpu below a certain speed.

Well I'm an idiot and it's still not working. I forgot I had the old version (1.3.1) installed, that's why it was working. I tried the new version again and it still doesn't work.

I just did some more testing and it seems that it only doesn't work with the 68000 and 68010 cpu's. Every other cpu combination seems to work. Checking the "more compatible" option does nothing.

BTW, I'm using kickstart version 40.63

Ah got Winuae to reproduce problem...so it's not just you

Code:
2007-02-07 10:08:45
45-765: Resetting frame rate hack
45-781 [1 226x312]: Illegal instruction: 4e7b at 00F80C38 -> 00F80CC0
45-843 [4 226x312]: MOTORDELAY! fc018e
45-843 [4 226x312]: MOTORDELAY! fc018e
Steps to reproduce:

load winuae
Select quickstart config A500/A2000, most common for easiness
Move the Compatibility vs Required CPU Power slider one setting to the right from Best Compatibility
Goto ROM properties and select kickstart 3 version 40.63 ROM
Goto CPU properties and select fastest possible, but maintain chipset timing
Insert e.g. workbench disk in DF0: and click start

But all works fine with same cong, when you set CPU properties to Match A500 speed which should be the setting to use for the 68000 CPU anyway AFAIK

Confirmed (and finally post with all important pieces collected in one post, thanks Paul)

It is caused by floppy hack needed by one or two games, it was already only enabled when CPU was set to 68000 or 68010 but I forgot about fastest possible setting.

In next version hack is only enabled if speed is set to A500.
