I don't really think so, if you truely were you wouldn't worry about the song or the implications of potential new buyers...

I'm for the future and I don't care whos coming with me

hilarious.

It has nothing whatsoever to do with the original Amiga so the music is entirely displaced imo... It's just an old style mac with custom hardware nowadays... but more expensive.

Sorry, I'm not having a go but the marketing of the x1000 is worse than what Commodore did back in the day! Is Medhi Ali the production editor of the video?

Well said Paul. They also left the originals comments in along with the music, which is... welll... just pathetic

To be fair, from the comments I don't think it's an official video, just an over-zealous fan who put an old soundtrack on his home camera footage.

I agree with antonvaltaz on this one - its just a fan build.

When I spoke with Trevor after the event, it was originally only to be a display / demonstration not a full on press release... It was quite amusing there was no PA system and poor Trevor whom is a quitely spoken guy was thrusted infront of the cameras like that of a firing squad.... he did pretty well =)

I have to admit Bletchy park was pretty damn awesome!!!

Anyway... the only problem with the X1000 will probably be the target price point, I had a play and it will certainly have something for the hobbyist, I also met the people behind it... there very enthused indeed.

While the Star at Bletchy was the X1000 system, for me the reall show stealer was Cluster32's Icaros IMica build - truly stunning - I hovered around the area checking all the hardware implementations out.

Instead of building new and expensive hardware they should adapt the OS to existing cheap intel-based hardware. Then, and only then, am I willing to buy OS4. I'm just whining slightly off-topic and I guess people have done that way before me, I just get so upset when I see the "amazing" new X1000. The Xena is good for what exactly? The money used for buying the X1000 would most probably buy PC hardware that would bitchslap the fuck out of the X1000 anyway.

Intel inside please. (For modern computers anyway)

@Skope

I really cannot argue that, pending on price point a top-end i9 or i7 PC build will easliy out perform it, however I dont think its just an argument about brute strength.

I have been saying (and begging) for years for an Amiga OS thats x86 based and can run Amiga Programs and 68k - transparent to the user. I am pleased to say that IcAROS is a huge leap forward in this area and if you haven't had a play with it.... you are only loosing out!!!

They will never do this, talked about for over 10 years but nobody want to.. We now have Aros on the x86 so its ok though.

Yep Icaros looks very nice indeed. I used to have an Aros install earlier on my old P4 which was plenty fun to play with, although I couldn't get any sound working then. I must say I'm way impressed by all Aros efforts so far.

The only one who's losing out is Hyperion in sales revenues. I'm not touching OS4 until it's Intel-native. (:

Really? X86 or nothing? Well then as others have said just go for AROS.

There already is an i7 performance motherboard on the market which comes in a unit costing about £120....its called the Xbox360 motherboard...and the Xenon chip at it's heart is PowerPC compatible. A months work for Hyperion to transfer OS4 to Xenon 3.2Ghz CPU without multi-core/thread support at most.

Trouble is we have a group working on OS4 separate to the group working on Amiga hardware. And both are pretty lame in the case of x1000's designers. £1500 for a piss poor G5 running at 50% max speed (only one core is ever used in OS4) and the potential to adapt an existing motherboard (xbox3600) by a couple of technical graduates for a few 1000 bucks in salary is missed now.

An AROS box or an AmigaOne X1000? In either case UAE is available on both...

...whether they're as good as WinUAE though I don't know!

Won't AROS (eventually) have 'seamless' UAE integration though?

On behalf of the Amiga community Doommaster's entry kicks ass (seriously). I really like the effort he goes into this. I'm not taking the piss btw, I genuinely enjoy this!

/sigh, i'm not as fanatical as Doomy

@twiggy

It pretty much does imho from the play I have been having - AROS is one of those "you only get out what you put in" - I am quite taken by it.... which is saying a lot for me.

@paul
