User rating system

Hi,

HOL seems to have a user review system.
But what about a user rating system!? This would be very nice.

E.g. every visitor (maybe after a sign-up) has the possibility to rate games. Recommended is a very easy system (so I can understand it, too ) e.g. choose between:

Sucks eggs
Waste of time
Playable
Good game
Great game
A MUST play
Godly

More than one rating means that a average rating has to be calculated.

Everybody could query the best (or worst) games. I think there are many good games that I (or you) never heard from before but maybe others who can rate the game.

In case that you had to calculate avg ratings with the reviews I think you should leave the individual ratings intact too. If you don't someone might show up and give Sucky eggs rating to all games, or godly and that would quickly screw up the ratings.

Kind of a bad idea.

I've seen this kind of system being abused a lot in places like Lemon64. The troddlers just love to fuck up things.

IMO it would be much betetr if these ranking things do not exist.

That's why I've recommended a user sign-up system. (Users can be banned, ratings can be deleted... )

The problem with 'open' any rating system is still that only people who either love or hate a game will vote. The vast majority of gamers who just consider a game mediocre normally can't be bothered to even vote

That would mean that you wouldn't get any medium scores unless enough who love and hate the game vote, and then there's something bad wrong somewhere.

I know if it was a readily available thing to add a review I would probably make a review or two if I stumbled across a game I knew.

I also think that the HOL is more of a objective thing - less personal opinions and more hard facts...

Creosote is right. it would become a pretty useless system.

There is one rating vote for each user review posted. (not yet available)

I've always thought about this. That make alot of sense, Mr Creosote. It's wafer thin.
