Emerald Mines II (Bouldersdash II) by Kingsoft
I recently brought out the A1200 from the garage for the kids and was showing them my favorite games at which time we came across the good old EM/BD II by Kingsoft.
The problem I am having is that the game itself is not saving the number of games I have played nor does it save the level I played last. No matter what I do, the games played and levels are always the same the next time I restart the game. Does anyone know what/why this could be? The disk is not write protected either. There's a couple of programs on the disk, make empty disk and make game disk. Are these anything to do with saving games?
BTW I can't get this to run in WinUAE at all. |

So if I make a game disk.... which files do I keep? It seems somewhat odd to have to do this when the game worked in the past without any problem. And yes, the problem I have is with saving games.
I haven't tried to use it in WinUAE but don't see why it shouldn't work..... Have you tried booting from the ADF image using different ROMs & varying configurations? ROMs 1.2 or 1.3 may be the best I guess although I have always played EM in my 1200 so ROM 3.0 or 3.1 should also work fine. |

I have the Kingsoft compilation CD of most of the EM levels ever created, but it's in PAL format. It ran fine on my Amiga 4000 with a boot floppy. (The 4000 can be switched to PAL or NTSC during startup.)
It will NOT run on the Amiga Forever 2012 emulator. This was a CD-32 disk. If anyone in the UK wants it, I'd be glad to mail it, no charge. It aint doing me any good. Should run fine on any Amiga in PAL. |

Also, what is the disk volume name? If it's been copied using Workbench, the volume name might be "Copy of [whatever]", in which case try renaming it to remove Copy of. You could upload an image of your disk to The Zone and I could take a look to see what the problem is. |
