Amiga won't boot from CF

Hello. I have an A1200 (KS3.0). I got a CF-to-IDE adapter from ebay and used a puremedia 256MB card (don't need more ), which I formatted, set up with HDToolbox in WinUAE and installed WB3.0. MaxTransfer setting appears correct (I had write problems in UAE with higher values!)

The problem is, the Amiga won't boot from the adapter. With the jumper set to "master", the adapter's LED lights for less than a second and then it searches for a floppy to boot from. With the jumper removed ("slave"), the Amiga shows a black screen for a while, with the LED lighting, then it gets back to checking for floppies to boot from. Any clues on what I am doing wrong?

Try a soft reset (CTRL-A-A) *A=Amiga Key's* after you see the floppy insert screen, it might just need that to start booting.

Also when you prepared your CF did you make the partition 'bootable?'

Lastly, Max Transfer should be:

0x1FE00

All the best

ps. you must press enter/return after entering the value or it won be saved

Yup, it is 0x1FE00 and it is bootable. WinUAE can boot from the CF just fine. I will try the soft reset trick and report back, thanks!

Edit: Yay that was it

Great stuff! Glad that sorted it, some CF's do that and other's don't - sometimes 3.1 Roms can help but not always, but a quick reset isn't that big a deal

Have fun!
