F-16 combat pilot - Rearm and/or refuel?
I am trying to replay this amazing game from my childhood, but for the life of me, I can't remember if there was such option as rearming or refueling in the game, during a mission ?
The hammerblow mission is next to impossible to perform since you have usually 2 targets to destroy, no wingman to help you, limited fuel, and very limited weapons. Ideas? |

I used to love this game. Never completed it. From (25+ year old) memory, I dont recall re-arming or refueling. The only way I'd suspect, would be to land back at base, but I'm pretty sure that ends the mission?
I never completed it btw. But man, I even remember where I got it. London. Virgin store (the small one, NOT the mega store). During a Christmas shopping trip in which I was also spending some of my birthday money. 1989 (the year I got my Amiga) if not the year after. I passed a "theory of flight" exam at school, based mainly on what I learnt from the manual lol. But tell you what, day 1 of that game I crashed over and over just trying to traxi from the hanger bahahahaah. |

Can’t you run with an extra fuel tank on the wings or under the belly?

Just uploaded F16 combat pilot Amiga manuals to the zone. Pages 27 and 28 have references to fuel. Also included a PDF scan of the manual which says - External fuel tank - up to 3 may be carried if the ATARS pod is not fitted. HOL has a manual but server is down.

That's right. You substitute audenance for more fuel in your loadout.

thanks guys. yeah indeed it's either more fuel/less ordinance or the opposite. But as long as your ME (mission effectiveness) is above 50%, you pass the mission. So effectively, if you are tasked to destroy 2 targets, just destroying one is sufficient enough to pass.

"If you’re fed up with landing try the following: Jetison all fuel and weapons and climb to 65000ft. Stay there until the last of your fuel runs out. Dive towards the ground and at 10 or 11 thousand feet pull up hard. You will then be able to rise about 4000 ft and then start falling towards the ground. Just as you hit the ground the mission will end safely."

I recall in F19 retaliator, I just used to play over home base and eject and that was "good enough". Can't recall if the same trick works on F16 CP. |
