How to set global settings?

I'm a little confuddled. Basically, I'm wishing to set a few global settings. Namely; setting the drive speed to highest possible, keeping the correct aspect ratio (I hate widescreen!) and disabling disk click.

I've managed to set the correct aspect ratio and disable disk click but the drive speed returns this message in the Cofiguration setting dialog box:

Code:
# floppy_drive_speed is ignored here (use config dialog instead)
How do I set a global drive speed? i.e. 800

Forgive me for my dumb question. I've used WinUAE since 2006 but FS-UAE I've finally gotten round to installing and setting it all up since last week. Really easy to use and cuts down on time searching and setting up individual configs for every game (especially those that use multiple disks).

Many games do not work if floppy speed is faster then 100% and it also desyncs net-play. That's why the launcher doesn't allow to set it as a global default. So there is no real solution for this "problem".

Hint: If you want to skip loading times, use the warp-mode: Press F12+w

Actually, since 2.7.10dev, you *can* set it globally, but it is still highly discouraged, since some games will fail with it (as jbl007) says, and as time passes, you might forget you specified it... and possibly even start "complaining" when game X does not work for you...

I recommend you do what jbl007 suggests (or upgrade to the development version, specify it globally, but *do* remember to disable it if you have a problem with a game).

Thanks for the responses - really appreciated!

I'll avoid using that option just to be on the safe side.
