Fantastic work Bob !

A Great Port; but it always crashes on my test WinUAE.
(did not test it yet on real hardware)

So i did this fast WHDLoad fix.
(only problem, the Quitkey wont work)
https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=101226&page=8

Maybe JOTD or CFOU can do a proper slave when they have some time.

You know, with a working Quitkey and Highscore saving; that would be awesome

Greetings,
Torti

I downloaded the ADF through the link on the Indie Retro News page first, and it crashed during loading in WinUAE. Then I used the copy in the Zone, and it worked flawlessly both in WinUAE and on a real A500.

The ADF in the Zone is exactly the same as the one on Indie Retro News.

What kind of config are you using? Did you try the quick launch options?

My WinUAE config is a 68020 with WB3.9 BB4, AGA, 32 MB Ram ect.
(with the amazing Icon.library (Smurf Edition) from PerterK & Workbench.library 45.194)

Tried to run it from that Workbench.

The Titlescreen can be seen for a second (with the bar tender)
and then crashes right after that.

I use the WHDLoad fix for now
BTW, is there any way to get back to the Workbench ?

That would be neat (and maybe a Highscore save system)

Anyway, HUGE thanks for this great Port Bob

I've never tried it with anything other than the usual classic Kickstart versions so I guess the problem is something to do with WB3.9 although it should still load from floppy after reset? If you're trying to run 'load' from inside Workbench itself, I'd be surprised if it didn't crash.

There's no way to return easily to the OS as the game kills it completely when it takes over the machine at startup.

Hi ! Ah, couldn't get it to work on my A1230 (didn't try to boot from the floppy though).
Is there any documentation somewhere on how to make generic whdload slaves ?
Cheers & thanks so much

To clarify, it won't work if you're booting to Workbench, then running the load program within it. If you stick the disk in DF0: and reset to boot from the game disk, it should work?

Sure, but i collect all the Games i like on my Workbench ( No Disk needed )

@ torturedutopian

I don´t know if there is a documentation on how to make a generic WHDLoad slave,
but really; it´s not difficult, compared to a custom Slave. That´s the real deal !

Don't know what you've written it with, asm, c, blitz. But if it's asm and you're using bss sections, you should clear th first.

note that if the program doesn't handle wb startup, clicking on the icon will crash the system.

Does it work when launching from shell (CLI) as opposed to workbench icon?

Yes, exactly.

EDIT:

The 'load' binary expects the game data file located in 'sys:game.bin', so that might be a problem for some when using a hard drive (or CF).

EDIT 2:

I tried the game on my A1200, works fine from a booted system (AmigaOS 3.1) using shell (CLI), great game!

Works even better after I hex edited (using FileX) the 'load' binary to load 'game.bin' instead of 'sys:game.bin' so now both 'load' and 'game.bin' files can reside in the same directory when launching the game with 'load'.
