Giana Sisters: Special Edition - Enhanced edition for the Amiga

Quote:
What a fantastic news story to end the week as we have just been told through our Commodore Amiga Facebook group, that the very well known platformer of 'Great Giana Sisters', from 1987, is getting a slight overhaul for the Amiga and will be called ' Giana Sisters: Special Edition '. Furthermore Earok is planning to release an Amiga CD32 version, which will include a CDXL intro and maybe some other goodies -

The text is a shortened version But Earok is going to be busy with this one and when it's released I or Earok will updated the thread. I can't wait

Are there only new graphics or are there any new level or new features?

New graphics only at this stage, although we've explained how to use the clock and bomb on the title screen (very obscure features!)

Also, since it'll be using CD32Load, you can press play to pause

We may release a premature alpha version with what we've done so far, we've got fairly grandiose plans for replacing every graphical asset in the game as well as the palette (now that a proper sprite artist is on board) so the final finished release might be awhile away.

Is it also planned to change the level design, game mechanics, gameplay too?

No changes in level design, game mechanics or gameplay (not for now at least). That would require some drastic code tinkering and with no real and experienced coder on board (or some sort of editor at least) this would be near impossible to achieve...

On the other hand, the graphics change is gonna be a total overhaul (in the spirit of what Earok has already started - but much more detailed and in depth this time), so it's quite the job already

It would have been nice to replace Giana by Mario, same for monsters, tiles and musics ;-)

Nah, let Giana stay Giana and keep old music, it was good. If You turn her into Mario it would be different game.
