old music program
I'm looking after an Electronic Arts (i think) program from 1986 called Music Studio or Deluxe Music Construction Set/Kit... if the name is the second, it's anyway different from the prog with the Workbench layout from 1990.
this one i look for features music by Ed Bogas (who done the scores for the Peanuts cartoons). The layout was colorful (16 colors) and easy to approach. Do you have any hint? |

Re: old music program
Quote:
1. The Music Studio (1986)[Activision] 2. Sonix (1987)[Aegis] produced SMUS files. 2. Deluxe Music Construction Set (1986)/Deluxe Music (1993) [Electronic Arts] produced DMCS files. The latter two were early audio rivals on the commercial front in the late 80s's/early 90's. Ed Bogas did scores on the C-64 and for a few Amiga games (using his own format), but the guy who did the Peanuts music was Vince Guaraldi. |

tanks for the info, i should look for the first one, i believe that i've mistaken EA for Activision... i owned a copy of that a dozen of years ago.
but for ed bogas: i'm sure he was credited on the cartoon; i don't know if he was a kind of sound director there, or composer. anyway if you're interested check the scores that i'm looking for, they were great! |

Hmmm...I have a CD soundtrack by The Vince Guardaldi Quartet of original scores from the cartoons (HIGHLY recommended!), plus have read countless articles on the music. IMDb solved the mystery for me, however.
It seems Guaraldi did the music for the many of the original entries in the series (including my favs, "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown") and scored Peanuts specials and movies until his death in 1976 (although his music has still appeared in entries to the series since his death). Vince Guaradli IMDb credits Ed Bogas apparently took over in 1977 with "Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown" Ed Bogas at IMDb Cool sidenote is that Bogas also did the scores for two of my fav cult classics from Ralph Bakshi, "Fritz the Cat" and "Heavy Traffic". Back to Amiga: I'm certain I have The Music Studio, but I can't find it ftp'ing into my system, so it must be on CD. Will dig it up when I get home, then post it to the Zone for you. I should also post the other two, as well, since it's probably one of them you are looking for. Sonix, incidently, was called Music Craft when it was still in beta, btw. |

Hi,
I have uploaded Aegis Sonix and DMCS version 1 and 2 on the zone. I'm interested by your version of Music Studio, because I have the original disk but have no way to transfer it (I use WinUAE). If I remember the version I have only works on kickstart 1.0 (on my Amiga 1000). |

Been through a mountain of CD's (only 32 to go!). Amazingly obscure, this. I hope my only copy is not on tape, but we'll know soon enough. I'll try to put a wrap on it this morning.

@marco
I know this is off-topic, but I never noticed before now that your avatar is Blind Melon! Great (and severely underrated) album, I thought. Shame about Shannon... |

I've been through most of the stuff and it looks grim. Most likely this is tucked away on an 8250 format tape. I have a few more CD's left to look at, but it doesn't look real good, although I might have a source for an old collection that will hopefully be surfacing soon. For sure it would be in that library. I will keep you posted, plus I will add it to my TGMIA List until it has been found.

It's NOT TOSEC i'll upload in the zone in some sec: Music Studio, The (1985,1986) Activision It features music from Ed Bogas, Chris French, the Kyrie Eleison of Mozart and SPECIALLY some experiment of my musician brother (@ 13 years old, then) of arrangements of Frank Zappa! Enjoy! Last edited by Marcuz; 26 November 2003 at 13:44. |
